Hillier makes WoO dash, finishes 16th at Orange County

Chad Hillier had a rather disappointing weekend when he missed the A-Feature event at Eldora Speedway, where he previously finished 11th in the Kings Royal in July, and then finished 22nd at Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York on Sunday.
In Wednesday night’s Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event, Hillier got things back on a track for a time with a 16th place finish in the 25-lap A-Feature event at the Orange County Fairgrounds in New York after an appearance in the dash race, driving the DIRT Inc. No. 5c Maxim sponsored by Jansma Construction, Wink Dog Motorsports and Fast Wings.
Sprint cars usually don’t race on anything larger than a big ½-mile oval, but the Outlaws made a rare appearance on a large 5/8-mile monster when they came to Orange County. Hillier didn’t seem too bothered by that as he qualified ninth quickest out of 24 entries with a time of 16.373 seconds.
Racing in the third heat race, Hillier finished second to transfer to the A-Feature. Being in the top two, Hillier also qualified for the Crane Cams Dash, where he finished fifth to secure the inside third row starting spot for the A-Feature event.
In the A-Feature, Hillier slipped back through the field and he would eventually finish 16th and earn $900. Hillier continues to hold down the 16th position in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series point standings.
Next for Chad is his final trip to Pennsylvania this season as the series returns to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg for the annual Morgan Hughes National Open on Friday and Saturday. Saturday’s event will be televised live on SPEED. The following weekend will see a pair of events at two tracks in Minnesota before the tour’s final trip west for 2008. After Minnesota, Chad has races remaining in New Mexico, California, Kansas and North Carolina.
