Bergman visits Montana, gets tenth in Belgrade
ALK Promotions, September 1

Snohomish, Wash. driver Seth Bergman had never raced in Montana before. On Friday and Saturday, he got to race on two of its tracks for the first time in the Mike & Shaylen Motorsports No. 18 Shark-powered Eagle sponsored by SignMart, Anderson Power Washington, Burlington Collision, Tri-County Truss, Art’s Auto Wrecking and Heavy D.

Friday night at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Bergman got his first taste of the Big Sky Sprint Tour. Bergman didn’t get the best pill draw to start his evening. He ended up starting seventh, dead last, in his heat race. Bergman, however, surprised and impressed the near full house of spectators at Gallatin Speedway with his run from seventh to second.

In addition to the points he got for finishing second, Bergman also got several passing points and was second overall in the heat race points. This put him outside Big Sky Sprint Tour points leader and soon-to-be champion Joe Ramaker on the front row of the cash dash. Seth drove his way to a fourth place finish to earn that same starting spot for the main event.

Bergman held his own and ran as high as fifth in the shortened 20-lap feature. After sliding off the track once to bring out a yellow, Bergman recovered to finish tenth in his first appearance at the 3/10-mile, high-banked oval in central Montana.

The next night, Bergman and team rolled into historic Electric City Speedway in Great Falls. The track there is a lot like Belgrade, except with less banking. This time around, more cars from the Alberta Sprint Tour were on hand.

The weather was also a player, sprinkling the track with light rain on and off all evening. With all the moisture, the track was sticky and fast and passing was very difficult. Seth started his heat race third and finished fifth. The Big Sky Sprint Tour elected to run 24 cars in the main event and lock in the first 20 from the heat races. Bergman’s points were good enough to secure the 19th starting position.

In the feature, Bergman slowly worked his way forward at first, but was experiencing a severe vibration in the car. It became bad enough that Bergman was forced to pull off the track. It turned out to be a faulty driveline that ended Seth’s night.

Seth is next scheduled to drive the car this weekend against the World of Outlaws at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif. for the annual Gold Cup Race of Champions.
