ALK Promotions prepares for 2009
August 14

ALK Promotions, currently based in Vancouver, Wash. opened business in June of this year, providing public relations for race teams and organizations across the Pacific Northwest. After a couple of months, 2008 has been declared a trial-run year for ALK Promotions. After everything that has been learned, most notably in the service department, things are being changed immediately with a focus on 2009.

In an effort to better accommodate current clients and future clients, the $150 monthly flat rate for race teams has been scrapped and a new price structure has been devised, effective from the month of August 2008 forward. An entire weekend, ranging from Thursday to Sunday (the Wednesday-Saturday Knoxville Nationals in Iowa being an exception) will be covered in one race report and up to two separate mid-week races will be covered in one report for $20 per article, up to $100. For the busier race teams, each race report after the first five within the same calendar month will be half-price ($10). Any news items such as sponsorship news, public appearances, or travel in which a press release is requested will be $10. At the end of each month, each race team will receive an invoice in the mail.

Should two race reports at $20 apiece as well as a news release for $10 be written, it would be a mere $50 for that month for example, compared to the old $150 charge. Because of issues like crash damage from a previous race, rainouts, or scheduling conflicts, some teams may be limited on the number of events they race during any particular month. The new price structure is designed to accommodate clients who wish to have public relations services but are only able to race so often. Race teams also have the option of not having something written should they have an unsuccessful weekend at the race track and a simple call or e-mail will do the trick.

For those unfamiliar with the service, instead of having all press releases sent to the same news outlets, each race team will have an e-mailing list specific to them. Local news media (such as newspapers), and even more important the sponsors, as well as anyone else a client desires to have on the list, will receive those press releases, as long as working e-mail addresses are available and provided.

ALK Promotions is also providing services for touring organizations. Depending on the size of the series, its sponsorships and number of races, publicity fees are negotiable.

ALK Promotions’ target demographic are race teams based in the states of Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. However, ALK Promotions will gladly serve race teams elsewhere in the United States. Drivers who have come aboard with ALK Promotions in this first season are Rob Held, Chad Hillier, Steve Kilcup, Mitch Olson and Henry Van Dam. Public relations services are also being provided to the Big Sky Sprint Tour in Montana and ALK Promotions’ only non-sprint car client, the Pacific Hardtop Racing Association dwarf car club in Oregon. ALK Promotions thanks those race teams and organizations for their business as well as their patience in this trial-run year.
