Hillier scores second straight top-10 at 34 Raceway ALK Promotions, August 1Déjà vu.On Monday at Paducah International Raceway in Kentucky, Chad Hillier was tenth fastest in qualifying, won his heat race to get into the dash, finished third in the dash to secure an inside second row starting spot for the feature, and finished ninth in the 35-lap A-Feature event.Wednesday at 34 Raceway in Iowa, the exact same thing happened. As result of the oddity, the Sedro-Woolley, Wash. driver scored back-to-back top ten finishes with the Advanced Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series for the first time this season and now has four top ten finishes this season. Interestingly enough, they’re all ninth place finishes. For Chad, who drives the DIRT Inc. No. 5c Maxim, sponsored by Jansma Construction, Wink Dog Motorsportrs and Fast Wings, it’s a nice way to bounce back from the rough stretch he had just gone through. Though he didn’t gain any ground on Tony Bruce Jr. for the 15th spot in the point standings as Bruce scored his first career World of Outlaws victory at 34 Raceway, this could be a sign of things to come for Hillier, who is starting to find his way in his second full season as part of the “Greatest Show on Dirt.”Hillier’s qualifying time around the 3/8-mile clay oval in West Burlington, Iowa was 12.470 seconds, and being tenth fastest put him in the first heat race, which he won over 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser and Jason Meyers. After being topped by Bruce and local driver Josh Schneiderman in the Crane Cams Dash, Chad was slated to start alongside the “King of the Outlaws” in the second row for the 35-lap A-Feature.Hillier raced with Kinser and Jason Sides, among others, throughout the main event, and though he eventually slipped back a bit at the finish, Hillier still finished a respectable ninth place. Most of the drivers in the field had never seen 34 Raceway before as it was the inaugural visit to the track by the World of Outlaws.Next for Chad is two nights of racing in Wisconsin. Tonight, the Advanced Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series takes to Wilmot Speedway before going to Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam on Saturday. The next week is the un-sanctioned Knoxville Nationals at the historic Knoxville Raceway in Iowa.DIRT Inc. is currently seeking companies that are interested in advertising and being part of the team as they race across the nation, coast to coast, and onto your television screen. Interested parties can contact Team Owner Dave DeWitt at [email protected], 425-308-8658, or 19916 Old Owen Road, #100, Monroe, WA 98272.
