Hillier finishes 11th at the Kings Royal ALK Promotions, July 14
It had to have been a long wait for Chad Hillier this weekend at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. After finishing 22nd in Friday’s “Knight Before the Kings Royal” race, Chad was ready to do battle in the prestigious Kings Royal race on Saturday when rainfall postponed the event until Sunday.
The wait was somewhat worth it still. Hillier continued his string of A-Feature appearances with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and finished a strong 11th with 36 cars in attendance on Sunday night.
Hillier qualified 19th with a time of 14.039 seconds around the ultra-fast, high-banked ½-mile clay oval. Hillier, driving the DIRT Inc. No. 5c Maxim sponsored by Jansma Construction, Wink Dog Motorsports and Fast Wings, finished third behind Joey Saldana and Stevie Smith in the third heat race to transfer to the 40-lap A-Feature event.
Hillier started 15th in Row 8 with Australian driver Kerry Madsen. Both drivers moved up from their starting positions and Chad finished 11th, earning another $2,285 for his efforts.
With Tony Bruce Jr. failing to make the A-Feature both Friday and Sunday, Hillier inched closer to Bruce for 15th in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series point standings.
Friday saw Hillier forced to run the B-Main after missing the heat race transfer by only one position. In the B-Main he held off Tim Hunter for the last transfer to the A-Feature, where he finished 22nd. Two days earlier at the Brad Doty Classic at Limaland Motorsports Park, Hillier finished third in his heat race to transfer to the A-Main, where he finished 19th.
Next for Chad is a Tuesday night affair at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania for the prestigious Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup race, which will pay $40,000 to win. Friday and Saturday will see the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series return to historic Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg for the annual Summer Nationals. Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York will host the series on Sunday.
