Hillier scores more top 20’s, moves up the WoO standings

ALK Promotions, June 30

Chad Hillier made two more A-Features on Friday and Sunday to move up the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series point standings. Now 17th in points, Hillier finds himself only 35 points behind Tim Shaffer for 16th, driving the DIRT Inc. No. 5c Maxim sponsored by Jansma Construction, Fast Wings and Wink Dog Motorsports.

In Friday’s first round of the Dual in the Dakotas at River Cities Speedway, an ultra-fast 3/10-mile clay oval in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Hillier qualified 15th out of 39 cars on hand with a time of 10.197 seconds. Slated to start in the third heat race, Hillier finished fourth to transfer to the A-Feature. Starting the 40-lap affair 15th, Hillier rode around to a 17th place finish.

Saturday’s second round of the Dual in the Dakotas was scheduled to be run at the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, North Dakota. Inclement weather, however, forced the postponement of the event to Tuesday, August 12.

Hillier’s weekend wasn’t over, however, as one more race was scheduled for Sunday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Chad was one of 26 drivers on hand, qualifying 15th again with a time of 11.380 seconds around the 3/8-mile, high-banked clay oval.

Racing in the third heat race again, Hillier finished fifth, holding off former series champion Danny Lasoski and Jason Sides to transfer to the 30-lap A-Feature event. In a repeat of Friday’s event at River Cities Speedway, Chad started 15th and finished 17th. His efforts, however, were enough to bump him up one position in the standings.

Hillier has a long month of July ahead of him, as he will race in nine states (South Dakota, Arkansas, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan, Kentucky, Iowa) and even Ontario, Canada. Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota will host the series this Thursday before the tour moves all the way to Arkansas on Saturday for a race at Riverside Speedway in West Memphis. The next night will see the “Greatest Show on Dirt” at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana.

Other big events coming up for Hillier include the prestigious Brad Doty Classic at Limaland Motorsports Park, the legendary Kings Royal race at Eldora Speedway, the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway in Pennsylvania, the Summer Nationals at historic Williams Grove Speedway, also in Pennsylvania, and two nights of racing at Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario.

DIRT inc. is currently seeking companies that are interested in advertising and being part of the team as they race across the nation, coast to coast, and onto your television screen. Interested parties can contact Team Owner Dave DeWitt at [email protected], 425-308-8658, or 19916 Old Owen Road, #100, Monroe, WA 98272.
