 Big Sky sprints to Great Falls for double-dip Andrew Kunas GREAT FALLS, Mont. - Dan Mann’s Electric City Speedway will again welcome the Big Sky Sprint Tour for two nights of 360 sprint car action this weekend. Boise, Idaho’s Joe Ramaker heads into the weekend with a 26-point lead over Helena, Mont.‘s Trevor Kirkland. Ramaker is coming off a pair of victories last weekend at Gallatin Speedway and Billings Motorsports Park, both of them being clean sweeps. Another ten points back is defending Big Sky Sprint Tour champion Phil Dietz, out of Billings. Ramaker’s victory Saturday in Billings only increased his lead over Kirkland by eight points, as Kirkland finished second to Ramaker in the feature and two spots back of him in the second heat race. Dietz, meanwhile, had main event finishes of sixth at Gallatin and fifth at Billings. This is the Big Sky Sprint Tour’s second visit to the 3/10-mile, high-banked clay oval in Great Falls this season. The series opened the 2008 season there in May with another two night event. Both night’s ended with former World of Outlaws star Jason Solwold in victory lane. The Washington driver’s win on May 16 came over Bozeman, Mont.’s Brent Kronfuss and Ramaker. The next night saw three Washington drivers finish in the top five. Ramaker finished runner-up to Solwold, followed by other Washington drivers Brock Lemley and Danielle Huson, who is expected to return to Great Falls this weekend. Alberta’s Casey Adams finished fifth. Kronfuss, who sits seventh in the Big Sky Sprint Tour point standings, leads the series with three victories, including a weekend sweep earlier this month at Thunder Raceway in Gillette, Wyoming. David Hoiness, Paxton Lambrect and Chip Roe are fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, ahead of Kronfuss. Joe Perry, Tyler Gabel and Trevor Turnbull round out the top ten in the standings. Front gates are expected to open at 6:00 both nights with racing scheduled to begin at 7:30. Tickets are $14 for adult 18 years of age and older, $10 for juniors between the ages of 13 and 17, $3 for children 12 or younger and there is no charge for children five years old or younger. Street stocks and super stocks are also on the card in support of the Big Sky Sprint Tour both nights and modifieds will also be on hand Saturday.
