Trust me you do not get under my skin or make me upset in any fashion. I am very used to explaining classes, entry form completion, registration procedures, classifications, specific equipment rules, race procedures and much more to the folks unfamilier with the form of racing we produce, on a daily baisis. We work with a majority of novice and beginner class divisions and spend many hours with training, instructing and bringing new competitors into motorsports each and every season. I have bee doing this since 1973 so I have met some of the best and some of the worst personalaties along the way. LOL That is one reason the RR Industry has Classroom instructions, mandatory race schools and testing for new competitors to be certified to enter into competition  Road Racing  competitors are actually issued a Competition License, same with Professional Drag Racing.

Overall, I would say 99% of the people we work with get focused on the right track after they get a few races under their belts.

If you go back and re-read the links I posted above, you may learn that although I have and do produce some MX type events, I primarily produce Dirt Track racing which is held on oval tacks. Some I have produced at the Tulsa Pavillion at Expo Square in Tulsa, Oklahoma were held on polished concrete using either Coke Syrup or a mixture of VHT Track Bite cut with Methanol and sprayred on. MX and AX is a very small portion of my business.

We race Dirt Oval KARTS, Dirt Oval ATV Four Wheelers, Dirt Oval Motorcycles and Dirt Oval Hot Rod Mowers. Keep in mind that Dirt Karts, ATV Quads and Micros are a large profit center during the Tulsa Shootout which helps offset the cost of the production of the Chili Bowl each year.

I understand that many race fans in Oklahoma have not witnessed these types of vehicles on Oval Track Racing ever, or for some in a long time. This type of racing is being held again at Port City Raceway on select Friday Nights, see schedule at www.portcityracin.com . Action Motorsports Productions, produces this type of racing Indoors at the OK Corral at 20450 Southeast 29th Street Harrah, Oklahoma on select Saturday nights from October through the rainy month of May.

Shane Carson raced at the OK Corral back in the start of his racing career. He ran in the 100cc Class. The building then was called Johnson's Arena. Shane has attended many of the Indoor races we held there and in Purcell over the past couple of years. Some other famed names from Oklahoma that raced motorcycles indoors at Johnson's Arena back in the early 1970's include Scotty Adams, Randy Cleek from Shawnee, the Lawson brothers, Aaron and Alan Lemmons among others.

Here is a video of that type of Short Track Oval racing plus a small TT course built indoors at the OK Corral. Guy Cooper leads the race in this video on the TT. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KqVk3Q1Gek

Information about this type of racing can be found at: www.amaflattrack.com or sample videos of racing at www.liveisports.com Here are a few if you have some time to watch.

http://www.liveisports.com/sample_race2.html

http://www.liveisports.com/sample_race1.html

http://www.liveisports.com/sample_race4.html

Check out the race commentators on Sample Race 2

I also am the track announcer at Port City Raceway which races Micro Sprint cars. Some locations refer to them as Minii Sprints which I believe is incorrect as the original Mini Sprint was a car that had the engines mounted in front of the drivers feet. Mot of them ran 1000 up to 1200 cc engines. But we are back to semantics once again, so I digress.

The screen name I use on most forums is AMP which are the initials of the company Action Motorsports Productions of which I Bob Oertle am the president and owner.

I believe most that information is listed on my profile on forums that have the option.

Once again it is easy to dislike someone if you have never met them and are just reading posting with no facial expressions or voice expression. It is known that typed written messages loose up to 70% of their meanings from verbal face to face communications. Just as phrases when stated with a different vocal experssion mean different things, Oh, you want me? or Oh, you WANT ME! or Oh, you want me :)

About Action Motorsports Productions:

Action Motorsports Productions ( AMP ) is an active business in the Motorcycle - ATV and Powersports Industry producing live Motorsports entertainment events in the Mid South area of the U.S.since 1973. AMP produces ATV Four Wheeler and Motorcycle Short Track Racing, MX Free Style, Hot Rod Collectors Shows, Concerts, and Motorcycle Enthusiasts Gatherings. i don't know AMP like ya'll do so I can't have much of an opinion. Goes a lil too far and his typing rampages..........and thats comin from someone who goes on a few myself. But I will say that no matter AMP's affiliations or whatever he does seem like an awfully bright guy. JMO.

It seems the harshness and sarcasm of this thread continues.lol.

Is there ANY announcer good enough for any of ya'll? I didn't personally care for Jack Rose, but geez he wasn't all that bad.........and more than anything I imagine it was the ladies in the booth that wanted him gone..........and we all know how they are. Too much estrogen for one confined area.

As I stated before, "I continue to learn each and every day". Never said I know everything about motorsports, I actually know very little about many aspects of the industry such as marketing, advertising and getting fans in the stands. or I would be much more sucessfull than I am.

Not quite sure about your definition of Ovar Track Racing, but I do know that Dirt Track racing that I know of is mostly done on Oval tracks.

As with any discussion or study one needs to know the definitions of all the words used to follow along. Also a brief background on the subject is needed to bring those in the duscussion up to speed iin an attempt to get everyone on the "Same Page" so to speak.

Bit of History

With the AMA GNC (Grand National Champion) at one time the title was held in great regard, as the Champion had to excel in both Road Racing, Mile Dirt Oval, 1/2 Mile Dirt Oval, Short Track - Less than a 1/2 Mile Dirt Oval and TT Scrambles which included both a left and right hand turn and at some racetracks a jump.

The Grand National Champion was by far one of if not the most talented racer in the World. World's Greatest Racer, perhaps and they for sure had much more talent than a racer that only exceled in one form of motorsports. Not taking anything away from those that are the best in their form of racing, those folks have proven that they are the top of the field. Hoaever, there is more than one form, and to master Five disiplines in one series still stands out in my mind as being qualified to be crowned Grand National Champion.

Last I checked the Indoor at Harrah is a Dirt Oval, the Track at Port City is a Dirt Oval and the track a Caney Speedway is a Dirt Oval, the track at Port City Raceway is a dirt oval, and the Track at State Fair Speedway where we also produce events is also a Dirt Oval.

The name Oklahoma Tid Bits lends itself to be about racing in Oklahoma, and if it is only about racing that is done on a Dirt Oval so be it. I don't recall reading where this forum was only about discussion of racing at SFS or only about Auto Racing. Perhaps I missed that entry.

I have been to SFS on many occasions and have met and worked with track management and track personnel there a half dozen times. We have had race bikes on display in front of the Grandstands, and passed out coupon on upcoming races there a few times on Fridays. The folks attending the races all seem very friendly and were nice to our staff.

I was not attempting to self promote, just giving the readers of this forum a background on my self and showing others about other forms of Dirt Oval Racing that we and a few hundred other folks have a lot of fun doing. We are by no means a big fancy organization with lots of banners, signs, hay bale covers and bells and whistles, we are just a plain old fashioned start em with a green flag and go racing type deal. No fancy buildings, no climate controlled atmosphere, just line em up and may the best one win. And be sure to bring you own chairs and Heaters for the Indoors!

I appoligise if posting a list of the racers having Fun in Oklahoma, and attempting to illustrate all the Fun that we have at our events offended a few people here. Thought since we also produce events on the Dirt Oval Race Tracks around Oklahoma that some race fans from Oklahoma may be interested in what other forms of Dirt Oval Racing happens around the state and during the winter months.

As with most Threads and Forums there will always be Off Topic statements that take the conversation in another direction. That is part of the beauty of a public forum. If it were just a monolog dictated by the web site owner, there would be no room for expanding the ideas of the discussion. In most cases that equates to lack of readership. It is always interesting to me to watch posts regarding accomplishments, or ones about others having fun and being rewarded for their work.

Many people on these forums seem to want to attack people personally and don't seem to see the overall picture. By posting anything on the Internet, one exposes themselves to public criticism, and to personal attacks. I for one have been online for many years so it no longer bothers me, but I am concerned that the threads seem to many times to deteriorate into a bashing session. With that said, I believe you may be missing the point of the definition of Forum.

1.

a public meeting or assembly for open discussion

2.

a public facility to meet for open discussion

3. any public place in which discussions take place, speeches are made etc
Example: In modern times the television studio is as much a forum for public opinion as the market-places of ancient Rome used to be.

Or online in public forums in today's definition.

Flame On - I can take it. LOL

Hey, I was only trying to poke fun at myself after my rants on Tyler on the other board and at the same time ease up the tension here. The funny thing is that when I speak my mind in a way that should cause a stir, no one listens. Yet somehow I Forrest Gump my way into being quoted.

lol. I think Mr. Porter has bit of a bone to pick with AMP.

The guy's posts are too excessive......again this coming from a person who does the same thing, but golly..................that must take him an hour or so to type. I can't tell if I am reading a post or a presentation.

Man Lawton better not rain out 2morrow..............and by all accounts it look like it will. I know weather forecasting is not an exact science. But channel 9 really screwed all of this up. All the way up until 5pm friday they were still saying no rain after Fri. AM........but yet EVERY OTHER STATION was predicting all of this rain. ah well..........really doesn't matter in the end............

Hey , It's like this , he seems to think he is the only one who has any knowledge about motorsports , he spends to much time brusin his back by patting himself on it all the time , the long typing with so much crap that means nothing to this board , it gets old , he does it on other boards as well and have seen posters on those boards tell him he is full of it to and they race where he announces at Port City, Ya know if he would just put 2 cents in without listing every freakin rule and what and how they do it and why it's not done the way he does it, like the other JD said if he could not list ALL his accomplishments in just one post ,it might just be a miracle.

Boy did I start some crap on here or what? Now ya'll are getting on to AMP. LMFAO!!!! Anyway I'm sorry if I caused Jack to quit, IF IT"S TRUE, but AMP says so. So it must be true!!! Jack does need to do ALOT more prep to be a good PA announcer. He's got a great voice and he gets the lineups in before the green flies.

As far as the National Anthem check this out http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/embassy/anthem.htm

and this one is by far the best, THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE SUNG!!!!!!!!!!!http://www.goarch.org/en/resources/prayers/hymns/national_anthem.asp

Now lets move on to Lawton's version of the great song of our country. Last night it sounded as though the young lady that sang the National Anthem was a crack head. Not that she couldn't sing but she made it sound like some kind of jazz version. I damn near sat down I was so upset about it. But it is the anthem of OUR country, so I forced myself to remain standing with my hat over my heart. The folks in the stands sure seemed upset about it as well.

J.D. Bobcat. eggs are .98 a dozen. the war in iraq is still a disaster, and OVAL TRACK RACING can't be beaten unless it is drag racing on dirt, and it would be number 1 if oval track racing EVER goes away: lmfao and thats JMO.

Where is Ben when you need him? Hate to say this, but Ben was a much better announcer than Jack is at SFS and he sucked. how much does the guy drink before he gets to the track? He couldn't even look to the north and see what class was gonna race. This guy is a moron!!! He miss pronounces alot of driver's names. One that really gets me is Oliva.... it's NOT OVILLA, for Christ's sake. Then there's the auction sales type announcing!!! Can't understand a damn word he saying, but it makes me want to buy something. SOLD AMERICAN!!!!!!

And another thing. Connie Root needs to find a REAL version of the National Anthem on CD and play that before the races instead of geting these kids that foul it up singing it every week.

I have to agree with everyone, that announcer sure does butcher names, and once I heard him saying they were racing for last place....I thought who races for last place. And he keeps going on about" is your tummy hungry?" The last time we had races, he announced "folks Im sure you dont know it, but they make the cars you drive on the street, patterned after race cars." Hopefully he will get better in time.

Milk is now $3.12 a gallon at Braum's, up from $3.01 a couple of weeks ago and up from $2.82 from when the "war" first started.

What that has to do with Bush or racing or AMP or an announcer I have no idea but it sure sounded good when I posted it.

Randy Ward stopped in at Port City Raceway Saturday night and paid us a brief vist to the press box during intermission. He was scheduled to announce at SFS on Friday night and in Little Rock for the ASCS show on Saturday, however rain postponed both of those races. Also on hand was Fast Lane News reporter Mark Downing, doing a story on the night's racing action. Fast Lane News is available in area O'Reilly Stores, and copies are free for the asking while they last.

I was suprised to learn that this was Randy's first visit to the 30 plus year old racetrack at Port City. Formerly known as RuJo Raceway, which was built by John Pickle.

Believe it or not. :)

Also this weekend Oklahomas Emmett Hahn and Shane Carson were in Knoxville Iowa being inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame.

18th NATIONAL SPRINT CAR HALL OF FAME INDUCTION BANQUET

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (June 3, 2007) - Drivers Shane Carson of Yukon, Oklahoma, Jerry "Scratch" Daniels of Stillwater, Minnesota, Kenny Jacobs of Holmesville, Ohio, and Hal Minyard of Speedway, Indiana, engine builder Earl Gaerte of Rochester, Indiana, photographer Ken Coles and sanctioning official Emmett Hahn of Tulsa, Oklahoma, took center stage Saturday afternoon, as they were officially inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville.

Co-emcees Dave Argabright and Pat Sullivan and a crowd of 265 guests enjoyed the three-hour ceremony, which honored the exceptional careers of twelve inductees. Shane Carson joined his late father Bud Carson in the Hall of Fame.
