I think if David Smith, Jr. had a problem with people using screen names, he would have made everyone sign in with their "real name", even though it would be a little hard to PROVE what someone's "real name" is. If I tell you my name is Haywood Jablowmi, can you prove differently??? Real names don't prevent anyone from bashing. Screen names just prevent the weirdos and others from hunting you down, stalking you or something worse.

Never been a big secret who I am. My name is Larry Carr. I use the name The_Announcer because thats who I am. Most everyone knows I'm the announcer at Brill Motor Speedway. Wouldn't be that hard to find me if you had a problem with me. I'm not sure what good finding me would do you, but I'm not hiding.

Im not talking about you or othrers that dont bash. I dont know you but I cant remember a bash from you. To me you seem like a stand up guy. Its the others, and yes it would be hard to fix but its not right for others to act like that while the people they are putting down everyone knows. Im only trying to stand up for the people who are getting put down and Im not one of them YET. Thanks for your comments I do understand where you are coming from.

Screen names are also for the ones that may only be known by a given nickname.Steve never has or never will hide behind one.This screenname was a nickname since the 70's.I never wish to remain anonymous,dont need to.Btw I be Steve and I is 25 lol P.S It was a pleasure to meet you @ the races Fri night Shiela.

the name thing doesnt mean 2 shits to me. if someone wants to know who i am - all they have to do is ask.......the only thing you have really seen me post that is opinionated is on a couple political threads........and you gonna form some sort of qualified opinion on that? i dont think i'm correct on everything i said on any of those threads - just spoke my mind and delivered an opinion - see dude - it matters just as much how one interprets something as what is said. thick skin is preferrable. i could see a few dozen things i those threads that folks wouldnt like or agree with - but i did try - or at least intended to - to keep from insulting anyone personally. and yeah much of the time i see people get "personally" insulted - its for as much how they took it as what was said. all apples and oranges in the end.

i made this name a long time ago. and i aint about to start another - no matter what you or anyone else has to say about - it still stands to reason that if you want to know who someone is - just ask. i havent seen you or 234 ask that question yet. how bout this - you and dirttrack234 have so much to say about this - how bout ya'll just say who it is you are referring to in this. because yes i officially do doubt the intentions of why you want to know. i mean who is it this is directed towards and why? just answer that if nothing else. and then whoever it is - just ask em. or whatever the issue is - e-mail em and work the shit out. dont catch everyone else up with it by lobbying. and hell for the sake of argument - you're goin on about names. yeah - so you have your real name in your screen name - good for you. but whats with the "MAD" and "Not Hiding from U" parts? well before your post is to even be read - it seems argumentative and extremely negative. seems like you want credit for posting your actual name - like it places you above everyone else. and you are going under this notion that everyone who doesnt have their real name in their screen name ------ is "hiding". well - i think that is just bull. just dumb. its dumb that this is even being brought up as an issue - or that i am even responding to it.

so as for impressions.......is there anything in this post that leads you to think i "need" a screen name? because just reading over it again - there isnt anything in it insulting. a lil bit of sarcasm maybe. but what is this statement about "backing up" your name? where is the need to "back" anything up? the statements you keep making just keep proving my point.........i mean how does the song and dance REALLY go? when someone says something negative about your track, or your friends, or you - what you gonna make them "back it up"? gonna attempt to ridicule them? i mean seriously - its not for any good reason - so why? this is needless - if it really is bad enough - everyone will just see it for what it is. like the lawton deliverance statement - no one mentioned names or took it where it did not need to go. it was obviously stupid - and everyone saw it that way.

although i disagree with it ultimately - i do see some reasonable logic in it maybe "curbing" some of the more hateful posts. but considering we rarely really have that in this forum......i dont think its because of that. and as the tulsa forum has PROVED time and time again - it doesnt curb anything. half the folks on there posting crazy crap are doing it under their real name (pr so it appears). i still think ya'll are trumping this for less than honorable reasons. and i think it stands as FACT that you should focus more on the opinion and the post - rather than identity. i'll argue this with you the entire month of october if necessary - and am confident i'm right. because never in any forum have i seen people seek names for any good or decent reason.........its always for confrontation either personally or socially, etc.

this forum is for a variety of things - 1st off be respectful - but then to talk bout our thoughts on things. and yes sometimes disagree and argue the point. it is not to establish the indentity of those who are disagreeing with you - so that you know face and name who is on the "other side of the fence". there is a reason this crap doesnt matter to most of us. if i want to know who it is i am talkin to - i'll ask. same consideration other folks should give. ya'll are wanting this "done" ya'll prob want to know this so you know who exactly you are gettin into it with - because you think it may be someone you know - or someone you know - knows. if you are so credible because you post your real name - than instead of lobbying to change something that aint broken - whoever it is this about - why dont you just ask em their name? i think i - and others know the answer to this ------- and that is the why. if you were to ask em - and they were to ask you why you want to know - there's very few good,decent, honorable reasons you could give them. you keep insinuating that it is for accountability. am i the only one who sees that for what it is? accountable for what? accountable H O W? now theres the best point i made yet. because i already know - you cant really answer it. it doesnt make anyone mor eor less accountable - it just provides and empowers certain people to start a lot of crap. or if it has already been started - to escalate it.

and still nothing changes the fact, knowing identities only changes things in drastically negative ways. the question still remains - why seek identity? if there is a stupid, hateful, offensive post - its laziness to attempt to retort in that manner. why not just prove em wrong? all the power you need to do so is not in an identity - its right in front of you - at your fingertips - as well as in your mind. i can see and understand where you will disagree with what i am saying in this post - but if this post actually goes so far as to offend you - the problem may be with your own impression/understanding of things. because none of this is disrespectful. and it is not meant as such. there are no personal insults. just my thoughts on the matter.

but i still say - if you want to know who someone is - dont bother David Smith with it or ask things be changed - just ask that person...... and if that doesnt work - let it go. there is almost never any good that can come from it - in any way shape or form. i say all of this respectfully - as well as maybe we could agree to disagree - because there really is nothing else for me to say that i havent already. but i am confident that we will never see that kind of approach taken in this forum. besides - this is part of hoseheads forums - could that even be done? i'm not entirely sure it could be. whether or not david could do it is insignificant - david will delete all the stuff that should be. i really commend/thank him for that - we all have a great forum to come to because of the very good and reasonale approach he takes with this forum. i bet he gets calls and e mails all the time from people crying about this or that. but by taking what i think is the common sense approach - he doesnt always pander to it. bottom line - if it needs to be deleted it will get deleted. i for one - very much trust david's proven judgement in this regard. i know he catches a lot of heck for letting some things go - but i think that he is usually right for it - and his forum is better for it as well.

As far as I know nobody has talked crap about me! I have seen alot of others on here getting bashed and its not right, but this must be over your head sorry dude to get you upset. This has nothing to do with you its the ones that make up fake names to hide behind. Racing is all ready in a bad spot we dont need this. I guess I never should of brought it up. But the last time I looked there was over 500 people that have read this.

I just want to tell why and where my screen name came from.

When we were kids my dad called us skeesiks when we were screwing up or acting like a fool. He didn't use foul language around women and children so he chose this word from somewhere out of the blue clear sky and used it instead. He passed away in 2001 and I decided to use this as my screen name in his remembrance. I posted my real name earlier but will do it again in this thread.

I am so sorry to hear that about your dad. That is a GREAT story and VERY NICE WAY TO REMEMBER YOUR DAD. Sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in 2003 and I all so miss him every day. Im glad to of got to know you and hope to meet you one day.

Yeah man, dads are important. To all of you that are dad. Take time to be with your kids. Man they grow up so fast and the next thing you know they are driving and you don't get to see em much at all then. My daughter is 16 and I don't get to spend much time with her any more but she's a great kid cause we spent alot of time with her when was growing up. My dad used to take me and my brother to the racetracks and we love it still today. In fact, it's almost all we think about and talk about.

Skeesiks - You make a great point that all Dads and Moms should think about. My daughter is 16 and my son is 13. Both are great kids as we too spend a lot of time together doing family stuff. The races and Football games are the two things that we still do as a family every chance we get. They do grow up too fast and are gone before you know it - so enjoy every minute you get with them now. I lost my mom in 1995 and my dad hasn't spoken to me since he re-married, so I really appreciate the importance of keeping a close relationship with your family.

My screen name is exactly what it says - I love sprint car racing!

sorry to come off like that man - i dont think you had bad intent in bringin it up - in fact - like everything else that is semi-controversial and has multiple viewpoints - its pretty good thing to bring up and hash out.

i aint upset about it. stick around long enough - about 40% of my posts are that long - just how i am (partially full of crap - others would argue completely full of it lol). i mean it aint under my skin or anything - just posting my opinion in its entirety. i agree with the prinicple of what you are saying. i just think the folks gettin bashed should just bash back - not in a hateful or disrespectful way - but in a way that proves the other party wrong. i dont "hide" behind my name - as most others dont either.

got a kick out of this earlier as i was thinkin bout something. i made that screen name like 4 or 5 years ago - maybe longer i dunno. but i was wandering if i were to change or make one now - what it would be - needless to say i was thinkin of some funny stuff. i mean not anything i would ever actually do - but i still got a chuckle out of it nonetheless. ironically - OKCFan12 is not just my screen name here - its my screen name on youtube, yahoo mail and fantasy football, and any other time i post a screen name. its far easier to remember having 1 screen name for everything. surely that wasnt my intent back when i made it - but its a lot easier to remember and works out well using that SN universally....just a thought i guess lol

as for who i am. yeah my name is cody morris. i live in el reno, oklahoma. not technically associated with any track or racers really - got 1 or 2 i'm cool with. guess i'm kinf of "just a fan". i've always liked sprint cars above all else - although now i like mods a whole lot too. i go to SFS almost every race - and used to hit up a lot of saturday shows in the state - although i have foreited that for trying to save dough for races like knoxville, chili bowl, stuff like that. I'm 26 years old. always went to races as a kid - but really start goin kind of hardcore in 1999. i dont really ever feel i need to hide behind anything - as if ever asked or it comes up - i dont have a problem with telling anyone who i am - i dont think i am really anyone that it would make a difference too. just about everyone on here has disagreed or more with me on multiple occasions - but i try to not be an idiot with things or unreasonable. some may disagree - i dont know. there isnt anyone on here i personally dislike - in fact i know only a few personally. 1 thing that is cool - is there is a handful of people i have met on here that i wouldnt have otherwise met - and i like to meet people known as "tidbitters" - its cool to put a face to a name (a screen name of course lol). and also to meet fantasy players. i've prob met more through that than anything else - cool stuff. just because i disagree or get into it with some on here more past than present - but still - i dont have anything at all against em because of it. i mean - none of the people i have "gotten into it" with - i dont have negative impressions of any of em. i cant emphasize that enough - i dont usually focus on the negatives here as far as people go. i dont have a negative impression of anyone on here. i try to be a hell of a lot more open minded than i used to - i know that much. enough - i am running out of sunlight. gonna be a late night cheering the Cubs and watching football. that damn billy goat needs to leave us alone! lol. the 100 year drought needs to end this year. this is the best squad the cubs have had since i was born in 82. must win game tonight.

dirttrack234, I in no way meant to offend you. I was stating the truth. Hell I pick on OKC more than anyone here, mostly over Political stuff, but he's still my friend and I totally agree with him on this topic.

In my book anyone that attends, competes, or participates (crew members) at any Dirt Track event on a regular basis is a Racer.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that we are all Racers. There is no need for the Jerry Springer Show to be involved. Unless you want me to dawn my Mullet wig, then we can get on National TV and hash out our issues.

By the way watch out for for that First turn, it's a son-of-gun. lol
