August 30th: I don't know if many of you know Deen Woods if you do then you may like to know that last night Deen suffered a severe asthma attack and was life watched to Salina. He is doing a little bit better today but is still in ICU, last we heard they still had him paralyzed to keep him from pulling his breathing tube out. Deen has been racing for ALOT of years he raced the #11 Camaro for Gary Albert the #11 Late Model for Paul Abram and he drove the #7C late model for Collins Racing. In 1989 & 1993 he won Hutch Nationals with his late model. He had currently been driving his #11 (former Hanson #84) vintage super modified. Deen was and is by far one of the best race car drivers around. I ask that everyone keep Deen in your prayers for him to recover fully and please keep Deen's family in your prayers too.

Thank You
Hupfer Racing 21H

August 31: Just to update on DEEN. He is doing very good they pulled his breathing tube today and he is awake and talking and joking around with family and friends........Not sure how long he will be in Salina but he is recovering well.

We visited Deen at the Hospital Friday night and he is doing pretty good. The asthma attack was so severe that he almost checked out on us. He was rushed to the beloit Ks hospital by a coworker with less then a minute to spare. As soon as they got him into the hospital his body gave up and they called code blue (Code Blue is often used to represent a real or suspected imminent loss of life — the patient has stopped breathing and their heart has stopped beating).
After they got him back going they called for the helicopter to fly him to Salina, Ks hospital where there is more specialized care. His condition was so bad that the flight medic didn't want to take him to Salina. They finally decided to do it since the flight was going to be only 15-17 min flight. They said that they wouldn't do it if they had to fly him to Wichita Ks.

Deen appears like he is going to make a recovery. Of course his way of life will have to change.
Not sure if he will be able to race again after this. Here is a link to a video of Deans last race http://www.svraceway.com/video.cfm?videoKey=5 This race was at Solomon Valley Raceway on 08/10/2007

Yea the Solomon Valley Raceway is a pretty cool little track. This is the first year for races there. There schedule is limited while they try to get everything going. They just built it this last year using volunteer help and donations.

Hey Deen it was kind of dark on the video but wasn't that a slide job for the lead in turn 2. Hey and carrying the left front wheel. That was some pretty good exhibition type racing LOL! I'm still replaying it. Got to make it to Concordia next week, Hopefully I will have a new job Tuesday so my wife will let me?
