Busy Weekend Coming Up for MDLMS Late Models by Dusty Wiegert SALINA, Kan. -- A busy doubleheader weekend for the MidwestDirt Late Model Series is on the horizon as the series heads to two new venues this Friday and Saturday night August 5 & 6. On Friday night the MDLMS stars will head to the Salina Speedway in Salina, Kansas for their first trip to the fast and newly re-opened 3/8 mile. It will also be the first time in five years that Late Models have raced at the Speedway. Pit gates open at 4:30 with Hot Laps at 7:00 and racing scheduled for 8:00. Admission prices are $15 for adults, kids 6-14 are $5, and kids 5 & under are FREE. Pit passes are $25. The 30 lap feature event will pay $1,000 to the winner with an additional $50 on top of that along with a random drawing for $50 to a lucky driver, courtesy of Steve's Auto Care, owned by former Late Model driver Steve Foster. The event will pay $200 to start and will also feature a $100 to win Cash/Pole Dash sponsored by G&G Dozer. On Saturday night the series heads east to the Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas. This once again will be the first time the series visits the 4/10 mile high banked oval. It will be the first time Late Models have visited the track in 2011. Pit gates open at 5:00 with Hot Laps at 6:30 with racing to follow. Admission prices are $15 for adults, kids 6-12 are $5, and kids 5 & under are FREE. Pit passes are $25. The 30 lap feature at Thunder Hill will once again pay $1,000 to win with $200 to start. The event will also include the G&G Dozer dash paying $100 to win. A $50 Entry Fee will be collected upon check-in both nights. Series memberships are also available and must be purchased if wishing to receive contingency prizes. The memberships are $50 for the year. Drivers attending these events will have the opportunity to win several contingency prizes. The GRT Race Cars Hard Charger award will be given to the driver that passes the most cars during the feature event. The BSB Hard Luck award will go to the driver who has the worst luck of the evening. Great prizes from R2C Performance, Advance Engine & Machine, Pro Motorsports, and Speedline Racing Products will also be given away. Extra tow money for far away travelers is also possible. For 2011 any driver traveling more than 200 miles in one direction to an event will be eligible to receive no less than $250 to start the A Feature. If a driver travels more than 300 miles in one direction they will be eligible to receive no less than $300 to start the A Feature.
