With a rain out at his home track in Harlan Iowa Mike Nichols made the trip to Thunder Hill Speedway Saturday.
I could not pass up the chance to make Mike Nichols the Motorsports of K C second Driver of the Week. How many chances is a guy going to have to do one of these with a four time IMCA National Champ in the Stock Car division. Mike has been staying a little closer to home because of economics and the Harlan track has some pretty good car counts which plays into how the points system works with IMCA.
No stranger to Thunder Hill Mike jumped right into the action and won his heat race, starting 5th in the first lap he past 3 cars. I will tell you what why not let the video tell the story.
Just let me add that Mike Nichols is a real ambassador for IMCA and the sport of racing, example, beside treating me like I was somebody special, after the races a young man came up to get a autograph, before he left Mike's trailer he had a racing hat and the trophy from that nights feature. Folks that's got class act written all over it. Enjoy.
