MEEKER, Okla. -- With two events in the books so far in the 2011 MidwestDirt Late Model Season the series heads south for the next double header on Friday and Saturday June 17-18.
Up first on Friday June 17 will be a return visit to the Brill Motor Speedway in Meeker, Oklahoma. Last summer the MDLMS stars visited the 3/8 mile red clay oval for the first time and the event ended with "Bad" Brad Fortney picking up his first ever feature win.
Fans will be treated to a double dose of action as not only will the MDLMS Late Models be in the house but they will also run the rained out features from last Friday night before the regularly scheduled show. In action will be USRA Modifieds, USRA Sprint Cars, USRA Pro/Street Stocks, E-Sprints, and Mini Stocks. Gates open at 6PM with the make-up features starting at 7:30PM. Admission prices will be $15 for Adults, $12 for Students and Seniors, and $2 for Children.
The next night the MDLMS contingent will head south to the Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada, Oklahoma for their first visit to the track. The 3/8 mile oval will play host to Late Models for the first time with drivers from not only Kansas and Oklahoma in attendance but Texas as well.
Also in action at Oklahoma Sports Park will be Pure Stocks, Factory Stocks, Sport Mods, Pro/Street Stocks, and Modifieds. Gates open at 5PM with Hot Laps at 7PM and Racing at 7:30PM. Admission prices will be $15 for Adults, $12 for kids aged 11-15 & Seniors, and Kids 10 & Under FREE.
The "Iceman" Delbert Smith currently holds the top spot in the Championship standings after scoring an opening weekend sweep at Beaver County Raceway and Dodge City Raceway Park. The "G Man" Gary Gorby, defending MDLMS Champion, sits in a close second place with Modified star Will Brack in third and Rookie of the Year contender Chad Dolan in fourth. Nebraska driver Bo Egge finishes out the top 5 in the early season standings.
Both events will pay $1000 to the winner with $200 minimum to start the event. The event will also include the G&G Dozer Cash Dash each night with the winner receiving $100 and the Pole Position for each of the 30 Lap Main Events. Additional contingency prizes and awards are up for grabs from the series, as well as Bonus Travel Money for long distance travelers who are members of the series.
