Tulsa, Oklahoma (May
19, 2011)- Officials from the Oil Capital Racing Series and Creek County
Speedway in Kellyville, Oklahoma have entered into an agreement to have the
OCRS sprint cars perform at Creek County Speedway on Saturday May 28th
during the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Promoter Jackie Green addressed the
newly added date, “We discussed the possibility of having OCRS back and after
some discussion on some things, we decided we would add OCRS for the Saturday
of the Memorial Day holiday for their return to Creek County. We will put on a
show where the fans will want to come back” stated Green. “We have changed some
things around on the property and we have added several new parking spaces for
our fans. This will allow our fans a more convenient way to get to our front
gate,” said Green.
This
will be the first time OCRS has been back to Creek County Speedway since the
2008 racing season. In July of that year, OCRS held a wing and non-wing dual
program at CCS. Cody Cordell was victorious in the winged sprint car feature
while Mike Goodman took the non-wing main event. “Creek County Speedway has
produced some of the tightest and closest racing action anywhere we have visited,”
comment series president Barry Grabel. “Our teams have always enjoyed competing
at Creek and the fans are great too. In fact, each time we have raced there, I
always see some of the former Tulsa Speedway fans from that era and they are
always wonderful to visit with. We expect to put on an awesome show on that
track. Fans can come out and watch us on Saturday night and enjoy the Indy 500
on TV the next day. Auto racing on Memorial Day weekend has been a tradition
since before the day I was born” exclaimed Grabel.
