Licensed participants under 16 are allowed on their approved racing motorcycles traveling to and from their race/practice on the track. No Pets are allowed at the track during the CMRA events.
Parking for Spectators is provided on the North end of the facility on the grass. Please do not block the asphalt roads, access gates and other areas used for emergency vehicles. You are entering a working pit area, Racers have the right of waw. |
If you attend, be sure to come hungry as Mike Stephens' Finish Line Cafe located in the air-conditioned base of the tower serves up an awesome breakfast. Their lunch menu is tempting with various sandwich choices. Be sure to save room for dessert, as their Soft Serve Ice Cream machine is loaded with the highest grade of mix available. They make cones, cups, sundaes, and banana splits. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream from the Finish Line Cafe.
I announce the races for the CMRA and we all have a good time enjoying warching the races. It is always a lot of fun to walk through the pit area and get a close up view of the race bikes and teams between races. Fred Chapman, the CMRA Chaplin holds a non-denominatioal fellowship church meeting on Sunday following the riders meeting at the base of the tower for those interested. The Shawnee, Oklahoma chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association normally has a booth and performs bike blessings and has complimentary coffee and ice water for visiters.
Word of warning, on Saturday the gates may be closed for up to 5 hours after the start of the 2nd Endurance race at 2pm, and no one is allowed to cross the track, so you are commited to being there until the five hours is done. There may be a Red Flag condition where they may open the gates, but keep in mind there also may not. On Sunday, the gates are opened to allow traffic in and out about every 40 minutes during the day.
