2010 SMP MODIFIED SPEEDWEEK TOUR SETS ITS SIGHTS FOR THE MID-AMERICA
SPEEDPLANT SATURDAY!
South Coffeyville, Oklahoma (July 15, 2010) – The Comp Cams
2010 Southern Modified Promotions
racing series presented by Racing Head
Service will conclude the 2010 SMP
speedweek tour this Saturday night, July 17th at Kenny Garris’ Mid-America Speedplant in
South Coffeyville Oklahoma.
In the first two legs of the tour run thus far,
competition has been nothing but stout and fierce as Randy Timms of Oklahoma City took the first round win at Brills
Motor Speedway on Tuesday July 13th. That event attracted a solid
field of 52 cars. Westville’s Jason
Hughes took the next round last night at the re-opened historic Thunderbird
Speedway in Muskogee. Of the first two nights of action, only Timms has
conquered the top five each time out as he also earned a fifth place finish at
Thunderbird. Of the drivers whom have accomplished a top 10 finish for each of
the first two events, Timms’ only dancing partner is Allen Chickering of
Okarche, Oklahoma. Chickering was the runner-up to Timms at BMS and he scored
his next top 10 finish with a sixth last night.
In addition to Timms, Hughes and Chickering, other well
established and major “heavy hitters” expected to drop in at the Speedplant
include:
John Allen
/ Chanute Kansas (14th @ Thunderbird)
Johnny Bone Jr / Pea Ridge Arkansas (second at Thunderbird)
Jesse Stovall / Galena Missouri (17th @ BMS and 3rd @
Thunderbird)
Tommy Weder Jr, / Woodward Oklahoma (Fourth @ BMS)
Eddie Martin
/ Stilwell Oklahoma (seventh @ Thunderbird)
William Gould / Calera Oklahoma (third @ BMS and 22nd @ Thunderbird)
The Southern
Modified Promotions speedweek series is in its third year of operation and
continues to produce excellent quality racing programs. Prior to Saturday
night, the series will visit Creek County Speedway in Kellyville Oklahoma
tonight and then visit the Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kansas Friday night.
With such a talented laden field, just to earn a top
ten finish will be a challenge in its self. To win a SMP speedweek series event
is achieving greatness. To be crowned the SMP Speedweek champion is reaching
the highest pinnacle offered. Who will win the 2010 crown and reign supreme? Grab
your friends and come on out to the Mid-America
Speedplant this Saturday and find out!
