I just came across the post you had listed for information pertaining to Sonny Heck built race cars. I can share a little information that I've found about his cars.

My dad used to be friends with Sonny in the late 60's, early 70's. He spent a lot of time at the local tracks with Sonny. Sometime in the early 70's, my dad gave Sonny a 302 that was originally in his 69 Camaro Z28. I've been trying to tack down that engine for the past couple of years, since we're currently restoring my dad's Camaro.

Anyway, a guy named Steve Chassey raced one of Sonny's cars at the MN Statefair in 1974. Attached is a pic that Steve sent me. From there, the car was sold to a guy near Indianapolis , named Gary Hill. I spoke with Gary  a few years back, hoping he still might have the engine I'm looking for. He is retired and lives somewhere in Florida .

I hope some of this info helps. If you have any information about the whereabouts of Sonny's car (I think Gary Hill still owns it, he claims the engine was thrown away years ago), I would appreciate it.

My dad seems to think there was another car Sonny built that stayed here in MN. That car has a GM replacement 302 engine, again from my Dad. I need to try and track that car down eventually.

Nick
