man when I read that press release - I couldn't help but think about the Fairgrounds and how big events could have helped.
Of course, there prob couldn't be anything quite like the chili bowl. But several high paying money races bringing travelers in from out of town maybe could help/have helped. Especially a big sprint car show, modified show, and even a sport modified show. I could maybe understand not having the big sport mod show because they would never exactly fill the grandstand up - but still.......good to get hundreds of travelers bunkin' up in local hotels.
Not meaning this to be reflective or anything - by all rights - through the endeavors of some very fine people - we may have a chance to do this yet :)
