This is the letter my wife wrote the mayor. She does not know I posted it. What a great wife after

33 years of racing. Some of you know her as Agnes but her real name is Kim.

WOW!! What a surprise to find out there won't be any races for the 2010 season at the State Fair Speedway. I don't understand how this can happen, can you please explain why this is happenng? I have been married to a race car driver for 30 years, and have taken our 2 children to the races since they were babies, my son also races now. It is our family sport and now it has just been stolen from us. The racing community may not be the biggest or the wealthest group in the metro and I am sure that is why this has been allowed to happen. I can' help but think there is some connection to the recent Maps vote that was passed. If this is true I am very disappointed. This reminds me of a story I saw on the news several months back about the boats that run between Bricktownand Meridian, I believe the story was about the large amount of money that needed to be spend on these boats. All I really remember was the guy that was being interviewed was talking about how these could be used to commute to downtown, but when asked how many people used them to commute there had not been a study done.I believe the boats are still running and I believe they are really just for recreation kind of like the Speedway. I don't believe you really know what the racing community is like. Some of them may be a little rough around the edge but they are good people with big hearts, I have seen time and time again when the racing community has taken up money for a racer in need. The racing community also gives to the MDA and to the Toys for Tots anually.Yes I know racing will go on somewhere else, Lawton, Meeker, Texas, Kansas. It is just a shame that such a nice facility like the Fairgrounds Speedway will be closed, Many cars come from out of town and out of state andput money in Oklahoma City on hotels and food. Even the locals such as us spend our recreation money at local eateries after the races every Friday night. But it looks like we will be taking that money out of Oklahoma City and spending it elsewhere (Shawnee, Lawton, Texas, Kansas) It's a shame the city of Oklahoma city can't do a little brainstorming and use the Fairgrounds Speedway for other venues during the year to generate money. Well I probably won't change anything by this email but at least you know my heart.

Merry Christmas - I am not sure you are allowed to wish it back but I can't be politicly correct on this one!!

David you and the Degrafareid's(sp) were the ones that I grew up admiring. Shoot when your little league coach, Mark Wheeler, was part of the Del City gang then you learn at a early age what car racing is about. I have seen David Lee grow up from a baby to a father of his own at the track. This is truely what makes car racing a family sport.

I remember one Friday night you took me around ,when I was younger, the 1/4 mile track in your old blue van with the car on the trailer

Mr. Lambert,

You are a fortunate man to have a wife as articulate and well spoken as Kin. One thing I have done is send emails out to all of the fan mail web sites of the NASCAR stars with dirt track backgrounds. You being a racer have more connections than I do in the racing community and I would urge you to send that email to promoters, NASCAR fan mail websites, and any other site and ask for their help in contacting our city fathers asking them to reconsider. I would think an email from a Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards, or Kasey Kahne would help our cause. I know Lanny and the Hahns have a lot of contacts in the racing world and perhaps they can forward this email to those super stars personally.
