A couple of Oklahomans made history at the Belleville Midget Nationals this past weekend. Lightnin' Leon Bacon and "Bad to the Bone" Brady Bacon became the first father and son to run in the same finale Saturday night. Leon won probably the best race of the weekend in Saturday night's consi, a back and forth deal lap after lap that got a little scary at times. When both guys know they're going to transfer and still won't let up, that's racing! Brady was fast all weekend, but hurt two of those high dollar Rodslinger motors....hopefully not too badly, but that's the trouble with Belleville. Not sure why Leon dropped out of the main, but it may have been to check into getting a neck transplant...lotta G loads for somebody who isn't racing that much lately. Anyway, congrats to both for something that's never been done before. Props to Cody Brewer, too, for a heat win and a lot of fast laps before HIS Esslinger broke an oil filter fitting...the proverbial 50 cent part.
