Marshall, Texas brothers Wes and Jason Armstrong and host of other
contenders resume their quest for the coveted Dustin Duncan-JustSayYes
USMTS Southern Series Rookie of the Year title on October 1st at
Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas just east of Houston! To

 When
the USMTS Southern Series resumes on October 1st with the first race of
the $10,000 to win Southern Series Hunt for the Championship, the
battle for the Southern Series Dustan Duncan JustSayYes Rookie of the
Year Award will resume as well and a pair of Marshall, Texas brothers
are on the top of the RotY standings. Wes Armstrong leads Jason
Armstrong by just 9 points. They both need to keep an eye on the rest
of the rookie pack though. A rapidly improving Chad Davis from Tulsa is
just 39 points behind Wes and Louisiana's Garrett Durrett who has raced
against the best dirt track racers all over the country has closed to
just 48 points behind while another Marshall, Texas racer Chris Henigan
-- who knew and raced with Dustin Duncan -- is only 1 point behind
Durrett. Chris has done it by running only Eastern Region events which
is a disadvantage for Rookie points but not for The Hunt Championship.
Chris finished 6th in the Eastern Region and will be just 35 points out
of the lead in the battle for $10,000 on October 1st! Arkansas's Kyle
Schmidt (-51) and Shreveport's BJ Robinson (-58 ) are both in striking
distance of the Rookie title as well in 6th and 7th place in the RotY
standings.
Last year, John Whittington took the first
DD-JustSayYes RotY title and with the 11-race Hunt all taking place
within 1 hour of the Houston, Texas area, we should see John-O back at
some of those USMTS Southern Series events. Here's the schedule:
Inaugural Event Thu, Oct 1 Battleground Speedway, Highlands, TX $1G to win Fri, Oct 2 Battleground Speedway, Highlands, TX $2G to win Sat, Oct 3 Battleground Speedway, Highlands, TX $3G to win

There's
still a chance that between the 2 Texas tracks that were rained out in
the Western Region and 2 other Texas tracks who want a show, there
could be 2 more points events added in the Western Region or they could
go into The Hunt. Watch www.USMTS.com for more on that but here's the Rookie-of-the-Year point standings as of July 7th:
