Okay, here's my rant.
Mikey (I hate him) should have been done for the week with his
violations. Gordon (I like him) should have had more penalties
than he did. Now the one that really sets me off......
Why wasn't the yellow thrown when the wreck started on the last
lap??? NASCAR is always very quick to throw yellows when
something happens on the track but not this time. It comes out
AFTER the checks. The accident was behind the leaders but that
does not matter an accident is an accident. Throw the yellow when
it happens. Watch the tape (I have over and over) there is no
doubt that Martin should have won the race. Another thing,
Harvick gets the win but the rest of the scoring goes back to the
scoring loops costing Gordon a top ten. NASCAR interprets their
rules as they see fit to make the best show possible. This is
ridiculous. Either race back to the checks or don't.
Every minute that passes makes me hate NASCRAP more and more. Give me the days of Petty, Pearson and Yarbrough.
On the bright side, I thought ESPN's coverage of the Busch series
race Saturday wasn't all that bad. At least no boogity, boogity,
boogity.
NASCAR makes even Lanny look good.

yeah it's a joke. I'm sure if my grandfather was still alive Nascar would have lost a huge fan yesterday. to say it's a joke is an understatement. I would rather play 5 soccer games in a row at 7am on my day off than have to sit through another boring ass lap of Nascar. How many times did ya'll hear the term "freight train" yesterday as if it was a good thing? With the pathetic sham it's become they should just as well let Teresa Earnhardt run it. She's about the only idiot who could run it worse than the people now.
Bill you hit the nail on the head. My trashing of Lanny Edwards will cease for at least a short period of time as after I watched that so-called "race" yesterday I can't wait to go to a whole year's worth of his races. as consolation today was a reminder to all of his critics (myself included) that it could be much much worse.

Throwing the yellow would not have solved the problem. The debate would have raged on as to when the yellow should have been thrown and which car was actually leading when it was. Wind Tunnel had a compelling video tape that showed Harvick in the lead early in Busch's spin. Whether it was accurate or not, I don't know, but it shows us the fact that the controversy would have been there just the same.
I don't like the situational nature of rules application at all, and NASCAR definitely opened itself up for a ton of second-guessing, but I think just about everyone would have to agree that we would rather see two racers settle it on the track than to have a track official do so witht he flip of a switch.
For what it's worth, I was pulling for Martin.

That is where NASCAR screwed up in the past anyways. I am use to the fact that, if the leaders are coming down for the checkard flag and the last half crashes, you throw the checkard and the yellow flag so you can race to the finish but slow down after you cross. You still have almost a mile of track left to get it shut down and no drivers are in danger. Same with dirt track racing, it seems to be the norm that if a few drivers are coming for the checkard flag, you let them come across and give them the finish and the yellow flag. But if there is a crash on the last lap in turns one or two then you go ahead and throw the yellow cause chances are they won't slow down in time. Most may not see the caution flag coming down for the checkard flag but will see the yellow light entering turn one. By then it would be too late if there is a crash in turns one or two.
