At Humboldt Speedway TODAY with gates opening at NOON and Ken Schrader and kenny Wallace signing autographs. See last night's resluts below...
------------------------
Looks pretty good to me especially if you're based in Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Bixby, Stillwell, etc.!!!
--------------------------------------------------------
In addition to racing one (or both!) of the two Southern Series regions in 2009, you may want to take a look at the Mo-Kan Region for the USMTS National Tour. While a perfect attendance record or good points finish in a Southern Series region gets you qualified for both the National Hunt for the USMTS title (worth $10,000 to the points champion!) and the Hunt for the Southern Series title (also worth $10,000 to the points champion!), the Southern Series regions don't pay points until their Hunt. The National Regions (4 in all) each pay a $6300 point fund to the top ten with $2000 going to the winner in each region. In this case, the Mo-Kan Region has 13 $2000-to-win events scheduled over six weekends total -- that's all! It's $29,000 in all being paid out to the winners & champion combined and it starts on March 13th and is over on June 27th! (Barring rescheduled rainouts of course!)
The tracks furthest away from our area in the Mo-Kan region are Thunderhill in Mayetta, KS and 24 Raceway Park in Moberly, MO. That means the longest tow from Tulsa, OK is about 6 hours. From Batesville, AR, about 7 and 1/2 hours. From Little Rock, 8 hours, Memphis, 9 hours and from Shreveport or Dallas, 10 hours. Remember there are at least 2 shows on each of the six weekends for a combined minimum of $4000 to win.
Each feature also pays drivers with a USMTS license at least $300 to start on an early entry fee of $80 per show. Non-qualifier "tow money" is $90 per race. Then there's this too:
| Quote: |
TOP DOG BONUS:
USMTS National Tour: Beginning with the third event in each region, drivers will be guaranteed a minimum of $400 against winnings at each event where that driver is among the top-10 in points for that region. The Top Dog Bonus will begin with the first race in the Hunt for the USMTS National Championship. The Top Dog Bonus is not in effect for the Sept. 18-20 Featherlite Fall Jamboree. Drivers must have perfect attendance in region to be eligible. See the www.usmts.com rulebook for complete guidelines. |
Ready? This region starts in two weeks or less in southeast Kansas on Mar 13th and 14th. After a weekend off, they will then race for 3 consecutive weekends. The April 3rd and 4th race works out good for the guys who are also racing the Southern Series West Region as the West Siloam show counts points for both and it's a possible $5000 to win weekend too. After a month off, there will be 3 straight shows in southwest Missouri on a Fri-Sat-Sun, May 15th, 16th and 17th before taking another 5 weekends off. The regional schedule ends with a visit to the beautiful Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland on June 27th. The top ten in regional points after that race will be awarded their points fund after the season is over based on where they are in the Mo-Kan Regional standings on that date. Here's the schedule:
Mo-Kan Region (13 events): Fri Mar 13 … Caney Valley Speedway, Caney, KS ($2,000 to win) Sat Mar 14 … Humboldt Speedway, Humboldt, KS ($2,000 to win) Fri Mar 27 … LA Raceway, La Monte, MO ($2,000 to win) Sat Mar 28 … Thunderhill Speedway, Mayetta, KS ($2,000 to win) Fri Apr 3 … West Siloam Speedway, West Siloam Springs, OK ($2,000 to win) Sat Apr 4 … West Siloam Speedway, West Siloam Springs, OK ($3,000 to win) Fri Apr 10 … Tri-City Speedway, Granite City, IL ($2,000 to win) Sat Apr 11 … 24 Raceway Park, Moberly, MO ($2,000 to win) Fri May 15 … Midway Speedway, Lebanon, MO ($2,000 to win) Sat May 16 … Springfield Raceway, Springfield, MO ($2,000 to win) Sun May 17 … Monett Speedway, Monett, MO ($2,000 to win) Fri Jun 26 … U.S. 36 Raceway, Osborn, MO ($2,000 to win) Sat Jun 27 … Lucas Oil Speedway, Wheatland, MO ($2,000 to win)
But there's more if your game! If that schedule is too far off for you than you might not like the $10,000 to win National Hunt for the Championship but I bet you'll like what they pay to win each race. Nearly every race jumps up to $3000 to win! There are 18 races in all in this NASCAR-like chase. The top points getters and perfect attendance cars from all of the regions will have their points total reset to where the point leader won't even have one race's worth of points for a lead. So everyone practically starts out even -- just like a post season playoff or like NASCAR's chase. This post-season starts out on August 11th with 5 races in 5 nights -- all $3000 to win -- and the first 4 are at Mo-Kan tracks! After 4 days off there are 3 shows in 3 different states -- Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa -- in 3 nights. The Hunt is off from August 23rd to September 1st but then picks back up with 5 races in 5 nights in Iowa and Minnesota starting September 2nd and lasting through Labor Day weekend. Almost two weeks later, they start the final stretch on September 18th with a combined $5000 to win 2-shows-in-2-nights in Brainerd, Minn (now there's a motorsports town!) which leads into practice and pre-Fall Jamboree festivities for the big finale at the annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree at the now famous Deer Creek Raceway in Spring Valley, Minnesota on Sep 24th, 25th and 26th -- a combined $12,000 to win over the 3 days! Here's the 2009 Hunt:
Casey's General Stores Hunt for the USMTS National Championship (18 events): Tue Aug 11 … LA Raceway, La Monte, MO ($3,000 to win) Wed Aug 12 … Monett Speedway, Monett, MO ($3,000 to win) Thu Aug 13 … Springfield Raceway, Springfield, MO ($3,000 to win) Fri Aug 14 … Humboldt Speedway, Humboldt, KS ($3,000 to win) Sat Aug 15 … Heartland Park Topeka, Topeka, KS ($3,000 to win) Thu Aug 20 … Steele County Speedway, Owatonna, MN ($3,000 to win) Fri Aug 21 … Mississippi Thunder Speedway, Fountain City, WI ($3,000 to win) Sat Aug 22 … Upper Iowa Speedway, Decorah, IA ($3,000 to win) Wed Sep 2 … Highway 3 Raceway, Allison, IA ($3,000 to win) Thu Sep 3 … Buena Vista Raceway, Alta, IA ($3,000 to win) Fri Sep 4 … Chateau Raceway, Lansing, MN ($3,000 to win) Sat Sep 5 … Deer Creek Speedway, Spring Valley, MN ($3,000 to win) Sun Sep 6 … Dodge County Speedway, Kasson, MN ($3,000 to win) Fri Sep 18 … North Central Speedway, Brainerd, MN ($2,000 to win) Sat Sep 19 … North Central Speedway, Brainerd, MN ($3,000 to win) Thu Sep 24 … Deer Creek Speedway, Spring Valley, MN ($2,000 to win) Fri Sep 25 … Deer Creek Speedway, Spring Valley, MN ($4,000 to win) Sat Sep 26 … Deer Creek Speedway, Spring Valley, MN ($6,000 to win)
See you March 13th at Caney Valley Speedway in southeast Kansas!!!

The National Hunt should you choose to run, would cost an additional $100 for a Hunt license IF the only other USMTS license you possess is the Mo-Kan Region license.
However, if you have a Mo-Kan Region license and buy a Southern Series license, -- $200 -- good for both Southern Series regions and the Southern Series Hunt (33 combined races in all) in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana -- then the National Hunt license is included at no extra costs.
