PRACTICE TONIGHT! NOT open to the general public. So you better be holding a tire guage and have a driver to vouch you in!

$50 per car, crew free.

---------------------------------------

PLUS good non-qualifier money!

This coming Friday and Saturday night (Feb 27th & 28th) at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track located just north of Fort Worth at the intersection of I-35W and Hwy 114 and right off the turn 2/backstretch side of the NASCAR Super Speedway, the Limited Modifieds (Southern Sport Mods & SIMS to some) join in the fun at the annual Texas World Dirt Track Championship.

Limited Modifieds pay a $110 entry fee with 2-day pit passes selling for $50. Individual day pit pass costs are $25 for Friday and $30 for Saturday. The A main pays $400 to start and non-qualifiers get at least $75 back. Here's the pay out:

There will be eight qualifying races on Saturday evening with the top 2 transferring to the A main and the rest receiving that non-qualifiers pay. That means there will be 8 non-qualifiers in all getting $300, eight more getting $200, 8 getting $150, 8 get $100 and the rest get $75 back.

The grassy spectating parking areas outside the dirt track paved pits on the east side will be used to pit the race cars. Should the ground become wet, that pitting area will be moved to the paved spectator parking area on the front stretch side. There is no extra cost for these pitting areas. There may be a limited number of spots left in the paved dirt track pit area. Those cost $100, first come, first serve and it's good from Thursday through Saturday. No extra fees for camping in a vehicle that is pulling a race car. Other RVs can camp at the track near the showers at a cost of $50 for the weekend. Thursday is a practice night. That costs $50 per car while pit passes are free on Thursday.

Format: Draw for starting positions in one of 15 heat races. SUPR-style passing points from those heats will be used to seed the cars in the races that follow. Points earned for both finishing positions and positions gained in the heat race. For more on the passing point system being used, see www.suprracing.com . On Friday, the top 16 in passing points lock into Friday's A qualifier. 17th through 56 in passing points will go into one of two B mains. 57 through 96 in passing points will go into one of two C-mains. The top 4 from each C transfer to the Bs. The top 4 from each B transfer to the Friday A qualifier. The top eight from that A qualifier lock into Saturday's main event and pole dash. The rest of the cars will be seeded by their passing points again into 8 qualifying races for Saturday night with the top 2 from each transferring into the A main.

Worried about teching of the Limited Modifieds/Southern Sport Mods or the lack of it? Don't be:

This is from the head tech man himself, Greg Holmes:

Quote:
I can't say that I'll be checking everything, but we'll check a lot, last year we checked carbs, trailing arms, looked for aluminum bolts on pieces, and p&g'd motors, and looked at head numbers when this happened.

We will be looking at these cars because we want it to grow in numbers.

Greg's got a lot of years of teching under his belt with his SUPR Late Model series. They've torn down quite a few motors over the years.

Here some more notes I got from an official about last year too:

Quote:
I do know that the leader was disqualified for illegal carb.
They checked the top 5 in the feature pretty hard. If you qualify for
Sat. event you will have to pass Tech. Friday and Saturday.

Drivers that show up at Thursday's practice can have their cars and bodies teched then and have an opportunity to fix them before Friday if need be. They WILL be teched again on Friday and again on Saturday!

Grandstand on Saturday costs $15 for adults and Kids under 12, $5. (Sorry, no coolers allowed in grandstands.) You will see a complete $3500 to win SUPR Late Model show -- heats with passing points, B-mains and and an A-main along with 8 qualifying races each for Modifieds and Limited Modifieds. The top 2 cars from each of those advance to the A mains. Modified A main pays $3000 to win and the Limited Modified A-main will pay $2000 to win. Houston's Howard Willis is one racer who plans on racing all 3 classes and if he can win them all, he collects $8500! There is NO charge this year for paved spectator parking! Here's the schedule:
