MidwestDirt Racing Series Unveils Inaugural Schedule for Late Models; More Dates to be Added by Dusty Wiegert
RAMONA, Kan. -- Officials with the MidwestDirt Racing Series are
proud to unveil the inaugural schedule for their Late Model Series,
with hopes of also securing numerous more dates to fill the gaps.
The
series was started with one goal in mind: To better serve the Late
Model Drivers, Teams, Owners, Promoters, and Fans with unequalled, yet
affordable entertainment at the Super Late Model level. The financial
aspects of our economy have forced promoters to tighten up their
budgets, forcing Late Model teams to race even further away and for
less shows. With the introduction of the MidwestDirt Late Model Series
all participants now have a safe and financially feasible option to
invest in.
Also present is the will to, in a way, recreate the Late Model
division and regrow the numbers of cars in the area, which recently has
become dismal due to rising costs, no technical inspections, lack of
events, etc. The series wants to let everyone know that their favorite
racing division is still out there and has no plans of letting up.
For
the 2009 season the Caney Valley Raceway in Caney, Kansas has stepped
to the plate to offer 11 events for the series, starting on April 4.
The events will each pay $1000 to win and $200 to start, with a total
purse totalling a little less than $7000. A points fund will also be
established to reward those who decide to run every event the series
offers. Contingency sponsors are also coming onboard to help the cause.
A
rules package similar to the SUPR Late Model series has been put into
place, allowing for 2 weight classes: 2300 lbs. for "Open" Late Models
& 2150 lbs. for Spec Motor Late Models. Details on the rules can be
viewed at the series website. The option for Spec motors should draw in
those with economical budgets as well as those who already own Spec
Motors in the area.
The MidwestDirt Racing Series is working
hard to schedule more races on the off weekends at Caney and hope to
have a finalized schedule with at least 15-16 races. If you are
interested in hosting the series in 2009 please contact Dusty Wiegert
at 785-342-2565. The cost to promoters is less than $7000! It is
difficult to find any series for a purse like that with the caliber of
drivers who plan on attending in the Inaugural season!
