I just wanted to let everyone know that a couple of us are going to make the trip up to Pole Position tomorrow night at 8 if anyone is bored and wants a night of hardcore mudslinging (dustslinging maybe) fun. Everyone's invited, and remember to eat light, weight matters!

I heard cheese and springer(aka BJ) "gassed" their way to the front. Also Lee Jennings was forced to watch from the sidelines after being "clubbed" in the knee in the parking lot. I heard the suspect was a short, fat, bald guy who he cheated out of a package of hot dogs.

Haha, not a lot of people showed up, but it was still fun. Little Leascamp (I hope I spelled that right?) won the first 2 and the Little Barksdale won the last one. That place is a lot of fun if you actually get to race with people, but if it gets strung out your just logging laps. Lee and I had a pretty good battle going in the 2nd race, and got the ol black flag and no bumping sign flashed at us. Also, we had a surprise visitor that I will post pictures of later.
And by the way Dave, if you would have given me the cap you have at least 12 fresh scintillating hot dogs sitting on your dining room table right now.

The first time I went to Pole Position I stunk up the place. Was used to the old style carts where you could run all out, full throttle for the whole run. Needless to say I hit everything but the pace car (woulda hit that if they had one). That place is great and a real test of DRIVING ability. Cars are a LOT faster than ANY go-carts I've run before. Wish somebody would have come up with this a long time ago.

i cant help but see shades of Warren Wallace when i think about that place lol
david jones - thats hilarious man....so you basically pulled a Tanya Harding on Lee?
glad to see everything back to normal in the local racing world LOL. priceless.
Larry - i would love to go there - but think maybe i should give it a go solo before i get there and take out a portion of the Jennings racing family and end there 2009 racing seasons before 2009 even gets here. i sure dont want to be that guy - (at least not right now) - but when i have convinced myself i have learned how to race - ya'll are in big big trouble.....
ya see - I'm the kind of guy David Jones hopes gets a racecar someday. one with wings i might add. i would single handedly fund many a hot dog filled vacation - in just one season. and while that will never happen - instead i'll prob just go destroy a pole position race car. I did once get a shameful mark on my wrist band at celebration station. i even got booed. hell the kid i KO'd was only like 10 - whats wrong with that i dont know. seemed like fair game at the time. but after the booing from his family and the black mark - i fully expected to get rocks lobbed at me. but - i should add - it wasnt my fault. he was the one to blame. the officials got it wrong. i regret not pulling a Merriman. i should have kept just racing around there incessantly after the checks. wouldnt that be funny though? like ya know - just keep going. not for 1 or 2 laps - but start dodging the workers trying to stop me. kind of like the streakers at a soccer game. even if they stopped be - i would just rev my way right out of it.........and scream and laugh like a madman while i do it.
the mental picture i have of this seems very dubious - but yet - audacious and hilarious......
i got some funny stories of Slideways in Knoxville, Iowa. but thats for another time - maybe later in this thread or another one or something.

Believe me, I've seen worse out there. And I promise you wouldn't hurt us in one of those things, but you might get booed by our groupies...

I can remember a few years back Tony Anderson and I went to a modified race at Devils Bowl. We got rained out the whole weekend. They had a indoor go-cart track in Mesquite and Tony, Carl Burdette, Roger Mercer, Sammy Potter, Jay Ford, and myself went go-cart racing. By the time we were finished only 2 go-carts would run and we were told never to come back. Went by the place the last time I was at Devils Bowl and it was out of business

Me and Neighbors shut the celebration station in Dallas down one year. Some lady in the 2-seater cart with her kid got punted. The cart got wedged under the guard rail and they had to shut the track down until they figured out how to get the cart out.
The year at the Chili Bowl that Bustillos had the indoor track in the old bowling alley was the best in recent times. Beer+baby powder(on the track)+3 am= fun by all.
Until then the old nascart track at 51 and I-35 was the most fun I have ever had at a go-cart track.NO ONE was safe there.

On the other side, has anyone thought about working a deal with pole position to hold the ORA meetings there?? They have that room that could be used and maybe they would work a deal for cheaper rates and maybe give a little to the point fund?

That little nascar type track was the best. That place was a blast. Even though I was really little I got to run there a few times when everyone went. I hear the indoor deal down in Dallas is cool. I've never been there though.
I think what ruins it most places is the no bumping thing. I understand that the carts get tore up and people could get hurt, but it makes it about 100 times more fun. Also, they need to put some baby powder down at PP, that would be a blast.
