Sherrell Gets First OCRS Victory, Passmore Locks Up Championship

ENID, Okla. (Oct. 25, 2008) - Matt Sherrell did everything possible to keep his point championship hopes alive Saturday at Enid Speedway Park. Sherrell turned in a perfect night winning his heat and the OCRS main on Enid's high banked 3/8's mile oval. But in the end it was not enough. Jamie Passmore protected his points lead with a third place finish and that was enough to lock up the 2008 OCRS championship.

It was Sherrell's first OCRS victory and it came over a 22-car field at the Enid Winter Nationals. Danny Smith ran second ahead of Passmore in third. Johnny Kent and Rafe Essary rounded out the top five.

With one race remaining at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola on Nov. 1 Passmore has assured his title. Sherrell will need to make a good showing at Tri-State to keep his 43 point lead over Smith save and keep his runner-up points finish.
