Wichita had stands packed with no room left, 59 cars racing for $2000 all on a tuesday night.  A feature started 26 casrs only 3 yellows and 19 finisdhed. And the races only took 3 hours.  That was how racing should be Best $10 bucks spent

                                                                                  vs

Enid had no one in the stands, 46 cars racing for $10000.  A feature started 26 cars with 10+ yellows and only 6 finished.  Maybe Enids promoter should take lessons on how to run a big show.

Well using logic, which we all know has no place in racing lol , one would think we would have a decent mod car count for next Wed night.

That is what a real USMTS race is about. Nothing against the USMTS southern series as those guys are fun to watch as a change of pace, but you had the big boys at Wichita Tuesday night and it was a treat. While I think I counted fourteen series regulars, they were some of the best.

USMTS is saying that was the largest crowd ever for an USMTS national tour event. This crowd also surpased that of a previous WoO sprint car show and they say the place was packed then too. $2000 to win one night show at Wichita on a work night for $10.00 admission. I would think having Kenny Schrader and Kenny Wallace there had lots to do with the crowd BUT I think this show would have been successful either way.

I had press box treatment but it was a treat seeing the crowd on its feet when "hometown hero" Brian Franz challenged Hughes for the lead several times during the feature. In fact, I don't know what the crowds reaction was but the press box was dead quiet on the parade lap with the American flags and Lee Greenwoods song playing. I tried to warn Warren Hardy what to expect, that it was unlike anything he had ever seen and I think he believed me afterwards. The solider who just got home from Iraq that day in the flagstand added that special touch.

Speaking of Warren the announcer, him and the USMTS announcer was PERFECT and never had worked together before then. They meshed great with each other and I enjoyed listening to them almost as much as the race.

The Kenny and Kenny show during intermission was worth the price of admission by itself. Wallace discussing his "slide job" on Brian Franz and Schrader acting as promoter and telling him that "Hitting the hometown hero is not cool." You had to be there, those two are a hoot!

According to Staley, it sounds as if USMTS/NCRA at Wichita could happen again in 2009 if C Ray and officials are interested.

By the way, new dirt was added to the track during the week. Noticed no dust despite 100 degree temps and passing on the track?

The show was great at Wichita, some of the best modified racing around, in the feature racing was 3 wide alot of the time and the car count had some of the best modified drivers around and all that good of racing for only $10.00 admission, and with the kenny show , that was just a bonus to some great side by side racing....

Since you know so much on how to run a race track why dont you be a promoter? You might even make it into the hall of fame one day! Why hide behinde a screen name, you skered someone might know who you are? I am sorry to all of the rest of you who had to read some of these things again. I just hate it when people talk trash on a track and they have no idea what they are talking about, Sorry guys.
