What kinda tire deals ya think TSR might have with Hoosier? Even though gota like a guy that speaks his mind with little worry about who he gets riled up. Thinkin open tire rules with the car for tomorrow would be really interesting.Need Paul Allen or Gates to give NASCAR more money than Goodyear to encourage free thinking and ingenuity.

Well he pissed off Joe Gibbs. Joe had the team scrape off the Goodyear decals over the wheel wells and put on Kotex decals.

NO MORE TIRE WARS! Too many blowouts and fatalities last time!

Having more then one brand of tire does and can work. All NASCAR in this case has to do is specify a durometer (hardness) minimum on all tires and they all can participate. NASCAR failed to do that back in the Hooiser vs Good Year days.

The reason tires are blowing now with one brand is crew chiefs play with tire pressures, in particular the right front. They lower the pressure, the faster the car can go thru the corner because it gives more grip BUT it also causes the tire to get hot and start to separate and fail.

Of course the driver thinks it just great to go fast but it's very short sighted and short lived. His first reaction is that so and so is giving us crappy tires. Gotta believe the tires are probably fine. People forget that back in the good old days when real race car drivers raced real stock cars, that Tiny Lund won the Daytona 500 on ONE set of tires becuz the car was setup properly and driven by a good driver.

Kyle Busch was driving like he was on ice out there. The tire issue needs to be addressed even if it means going back to the old bias ply tires. JMO

Seems like everybody had the same tires and some coped with it better than others. Gee - they had to drive the cars for a change - and no rash of tire failures yesterday - is that bad?

I think Tony knows a thing or two about driving skating race cars, he didn't win the triple crown in USAC without doing a little skating in now wing cars. If he thinks the tires are junk, then I would probably think that is knows what he is talking about. He just tells it like it is instead of being a total A$$ kisser. My kind of guy.

Poking a durometer into a tire will not solve the issues that make tire wars dangerous territory.

Bias ply tires might just be the perfect solution with the COT. I like the idea of increased sidewall flex and the fact that the tires can be overdriven for a few laps at a time. We've moved well beyond the "competition improves the retail product" stage of this game, I see no reason to stay on bias ply tires.

Obviously the driver's are uncomfortable with what Goodyear gave them. I have only heard generic complaints from the drivers, not suggested solutions or specific reasons these tires are "crap" I'll reserve judgement until I hear WHY they don't like them. "Tough to drive" is different than "unpredictable" or "unsafe"

One thing for sure, Tony Stewart Live on Sirius should be very entertaining tonite. The regularly scheduled guest is Mike Helton. Is it hoping for too much to wish for a discussion of the "how and why it sucks" tonite or will we just get the standard NASCAR PR pre-written mantra that everything is OK, it must be in your head, now apologize like a nice little driver and we'll let you keep riding our gravy train.

I'm sure Mike Heltons every word will be rehearsed and politically correct, we'll have to see about Tony's. Did anyone else notice lots of empty seats yesterday? I know the weather wasn't the best, but neither was the racing.

Toyota winning races isn't going to kill or cripple anyone. A lot of other drivers agreed with what Tony said.

Yep, lots of empty seats and ads for tickets still available for upcoming nascar races at a lot of tracks.

Quoting from the article which, in turn, quotes from goodyear's press release "Finally, we would like to correct an erroneous comment made by Tony Stewart. Goodyear decided to leave other racing series only because of the escalating costs of competition in those series. At least one other tiremaker has done the same. For Goodyear, the enormous investment required to compete in those other forms of racing far outweighed the benefits derived from our participation."

It seems to me, correct me if I'm wrong, that goodyear didn't choose to leave sprint car racing. Sprint car racing, mainly the WoO, allstars and several different tracks, chose to leave goodyear. Isn't their statement based on a lie?

i like the hard tires, and them slipping around. notice the guys that can run dirt pretty much filled the top 10? sure, they had to drive every lap and many didnt like it but the drivers came to the front. it reminds me of the last time they had hard tires and ryan newman kicked them around till they went to high grip tires.

HARD TIRES ARE NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM. TRY RUNNING ANY CAR WITH OUT SPRINGS{BUMP STOPS} WILL MAKE ANY TIRE WORK MUCH HARDER. TAKE AWAY BUMP STOPS ANY REDO THE TIRE RULE.

Hopefully Tony feels the same way about the track conditions at Eldora as he does about Goodyear!
