I am a first time poster as you can tell. I read the boards from time to time to catch up on a few friends. Just thought I'd give you a heads up on the whole Lasoski bashing thing.

First term: Libel - the publishing of falsehood that harms someone. (Slander is the spoken word, and I can only assume that you do plenty of that as well.) The United States Supreme Court requires only that one prove the statements were made with actual malice. Mr. Lasoski and the rest of the board visitors have the actual posts to prove that. Also, one can win a libel suit if they demonstrate that the information was false or that it was published with reckless disregard of whether it as false or not, such as the illegal wing post.

Second term: Defamation - the communication of a statement that makes a false claim, expressively or stated or implied to be factual, that may harm the reputation of an individual. Most jurisdictions allow legal actions, civil and/or criminal, to deter various kinds of defamation and retaliate against groundless criticism.

A few suggestions. Lay low and seek legal council ASAP. The boards are monitored and they are able to identify each poster. It has been done in the past, even with fictitious names and e-mails. And please, whatever your problem is with Mr. Lasoski, settle it somewhere else. We are all sick of your whining.

Nice try at intimidation but doesn't apply to public figures. Consult an attorney not a dictionary. Its a long cold winter and a little controversy keeps people interested. Most reasonable people would be hard pressed to believe that Lasoski has achieved all that he has by cheating so easy with the threats. They aren't necessary.Stay away from the Kool-Aid.

That is exactly whom the laws are to protect, public figures. I personally did consult with an attorney today. Kool-Aid is not my drink of choice by the way. Furthermore, if dirtbaby wants to contact Mr. Lasoski personally and confront him, please have him/her do so and save us all the drama. Intimidation is not my style. As mentioned previously, that was my first post. If intimidation is what I was after, I would have commented a long time ago. The drama has been going on for months now. Bring some valid issues to the table and maybe we could all consider dirtbaby knowledgeable.

Here is another legal term that was discussed today. In all your legal wisdom, I'm sure that you are familiar with this term as well. Hate to show all of Mr. Lasoski's cards, but what the he**. It's all admissable in court.

Cyberstalking is the use of the Internet or other electronic means to stalk someone.

It has been defined as the use of information and communications technology, particularly the Internet, by an individual or group of individuals, to harass another individual, group of individuals, or organization. The behavior includes false accusations, monitoring, and the transmission of threats. The harassment must be such that a reasonable person, in possession of the same information, would regard it as sufficient to cause another reasonable person distress.[1]

I guess this means that fans can't express their OPINIONS (not facts, opinions) anymore on message boards, for the fear that they may be sued......that blows....

um........

I would think if Lasoski wants to race this year - he won;t waste time or resources feuding in court with race fans who don't like him. He's a great driver - and I'm sure he's not lettin pit lizards do his thinkin for him. too bad that certain folks idea of defendin their guy is to start bringin up lawsuits. pathetic - and their livin in a fantasy world if they think anybody will take them seriously.

if you are talkin with lawyers bout that - you are badly waisting yours and infinitely worse - their time - and you probably need to get some prescriptions refilled.

I do respect your opinion; however, some poeople go too far voicing their personal issues. I am sure Mr. Lasoski and all the other drivers out there appreciate the huge following of racing fans, after all, that is what pays the bills. But you must realize that this is their job and their livelyhood. It is a profession of choice and it does come with much criticism. But stating on a public board that someone is a cheater and a thief goes beyond the normal banter about who won the race and why. The race boards are read by thousands of people. Post the name and e-mail adress of your employer and let someone respond with accusations to him/her that you are stealing or cheating your company and see how quickly you will be called into the office and forced to defend yourself. Let these men/women race. When the sport of sprint car racing is no longer around, we can thank "fans" like dirt_baby for their support. Yes, he/she is ony the voice of one but if the personal bashing is allowed to continue there will be others who will follow.

Is a pitlizard anything like a lot lizard, or a lounge lizard???

Defamation is "...expressively stated or implied to be factual, that may harm the reputation of an individual, business, product, group..."

You need to try an attorney that doesn't practice from a motor-home at the local truck stop. Did your truck stop barrister mention privilage/malice; reasonable belief; opinion; fair comment on a matter of public interest; innocent dissemination; or my favorite (and possibly the most relevant)....incapable of further defamation???

How sullied is one's reputation after a nationally broadcast fued/wrestling match with kin has been shown over and over and over....

In my opinion, Danny's a balding, whining, paunchy putz that has been incredibly fortunate to have supporters like Ronnie Ditzfeld and Tony Ross....two actual gems in a sport filled with sketchy, balding, whining, paunchy putzes!

He's been dogged by rumors from illegal traction control devices, to an airplane seized in some kind of drug bust, to secretly being the Travelocity roaming gnome.

Whatever......

Hey, why don't you pick up the banner for Tyler Walker, Shane Hmiel, Aaron Fike....they've been wronged by countless, less than kind posts. They're not bad boys, just misunderstood!

If the nose of the race car is in the top 5 on a regular basis, then the ramblings of a bunch of people on a message board become mute without real meaning.

The real deal doesn't have a safety deposit box loaded with rats asses to give to everyone who disagrees.

LOL at being able to prove who was actually doing the typing on an Internet message board. Even if you have an IP address, the easiest defense would be that it wasn't me doing the typing.

I find it amusing that law is quoted on a racing page, and even more amusing some of the answers I see posted by people I know to be Lawyers.

Oops, I just lost all my creditability by admitting I know more than one Lawyer.

I must hang out in real bad places to know Lawyers.

I saw some in the shark tank at the zoo once also, wonder if they are all related.

Right now what I really need is a hott lizard, I like them! especially when it is cold outside.

Better than chili and hot chocolate lol

aw shucks Duane....

A lawyer and the pope were both killed in an accident. The two were in line to see St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter asked the lawyer his name and looked it up in his book. He then asked the Pope for his name, and looked it up in his book also. "Now, if you will come with me, I will show you your eternal dwellings," said St. Peter. They walked along the clouds and came to a huge mansion with all sorts of lavish trappings. St. Peter turned to the lawyer and told him this was to be his house. The Pope, knowing how important he was to the church could hardly imagine what his house would be like. St. Peter and the Pope continued on to a small, beat-up wooden shack. St. Peter told the Pope that this would be his dwelling. The Pope, shocked, said to St. Peter, "Just a minute! That other guy was a lawyer and he gets a mansion. I was the head of the Roman Catholic church, and this is all the reward I get??" St. Peter looked at the Pope and said "True, you have done great things. But we have lots of Popes in Heaven, and that guy was the first lawyer ever to make it up here."

Good stuff!, I'm glad I dropped in tonight, much better than "crime and punishment..One question though. It had threats of retribution, some good old pats on the back and some great lawyer jokes, But who in the hell is Mr. Lasoski?
