What messed up rule do the outlaws have where stopping to avoid a wreck sends you to the tail. Heck the red was probably on also when they stopped. 

The exact same "messed up" rule that has been in effect for the entire 31.5 years I've worked for the World of Outlaws:  If you make contact with another car and stop, you're considered "involved" in the accident and go to the back (even if you're "trying" to avoid the accident).

Johnny.  Would it be appropriate to maybe think about the rule or maybe explain the thoughts behind the ruling please??

And, maybe single file restarts?  I honestly see no beneifit to the rule, just makes it boring to watch, less action...

For those clamoring for less subjectivity this is about as clear cut objective as it comes.  Two unfortunates drivers met two very objective criteria in this rule.  Contact with another car "Check" and stopped "Check."

just because one doesn't agree with the rule itself -  doesn't make the rule subjective.

Not sure the rule could be tweaked without adding subjectivity and therefore opening a can for all the conspiracy theorist.  Not sure there is much more to explain within the rule itself.

Restarts are interesting as my opinion has now changed.   As a former team member I was a fan 50-50 of the time - when we were leading or just passed a very difficult car to pass I disliked the double file restarts and when we struggled in time trails and started back further I liked the double file restarts.

Speaking now from a purely fan perspective - I enjoy the double file restarts as it makes the "most exciting moment in motor sports" - Bruce Ellis......why in Bruce's words was the start the most exciting moment in motor sports - most likely because it is the most dangerous and risky moment of the race.

drivers and team owners who oppose the double file restarts IMHO is certainly understandable. The current rule allows the double file until 10 to go having been on both sides seems equitable..

I remember that "messed up rule" being applies as far back as 1960.  Eighteen years before the Outlaws existed and over sixty until High Limit's arrival in the racing scene.  That rule goes back many years and still makes more sense than the kind of fiascos we see in other forms of racing.  Probably one of the most frequent gripes with Mods and Late Models centers around judgement calls about lineups after a yellow or red.
