Just my opion but the 50 lap thing should've died a quick death after the 50th anniversary.  The "pit stop" is stupid and the race should go back to a sprint car race, 30 laps!

I'm for doing away with the 50 as well... but with the larger tank, what is the most number of laps that could be run there without a mandatory fuel stop?  If it went green, or maybe just one caution, could they do 40?

I don't think 40 laps would work at Knoxville. 30, yes, depending on yellows and reds. I am impartial to 30 or 50. While I do like the shorter race, the 50, definitely gives the guys in the back more time to move up.

So unless there's a glaring issues at 50, I'd leave it.

I hate the King's Royal format, so I just don't watch it.  So, I feel what you're saying.  I watch the 99% of races that don't have the King's Royal's stupid format.

Knoxville's 50 lap feature?  I love it.  So for me, I say don't change it.  It's not everyone's cup of tea, much like the King's Royal format is not mine.  To each their own.  I just find something else to watch in mid-July because it's become apparent they are not going to do away with the clownery.

40 would really be pushing it 30 laps is as long as a sprint car race should be on a half mile. I've been saying since they started the 50 if they gave Karl Kinser a "pit stop" half way through he woulda won every one of them!

No thanks. Keep it 50. Heck make it 60, make it 100 for all I care but definately do not make it less. They do a "pit stop" so what. Get over it. It really is not that big of a deal. And for the money most of us pay to get in an do all of the prelim stuff and to get 30laps heck no. 50 is fine. Kyle Larson still wins, Ryan Timms still wins, Gravel and Sweet still win theirs. In 17 runnings since it went to 50 it has probably had an impact maybe 3times and probably for the better.

I believe it would be a better race if the red flag intermission was fuel only.

I kind of thought the philosophy behind sprint cars was to sprint to the front as fast as possible. Any long race where the strategy is preserve fuel or tires or anything takes away from the sprint inda. However, I get to see so little sprint racing I would tolerate a 100 feature just to get my fix.

Just for perspective the Williams Grove National Open used to be 150 laps run during the DAY up until the very early 80s. Today they would go through a couple thousand dollars in tires. Hoosier would be in heaven.

The pit stop and drawing out the Saturday night show was the main reason that my wife and I quit going. We now usually go to a Wednesday or Thursday night qualifying night and watch the rest from the comfort of home.

Port Royals Tuscarora Fifty Is five minutes on the track and no tire changes. It is scheduled for lap 25 but if there is a caution between lap 20 and 25 that is when they do it.

One thing on Saturday is there are only 4 races. You feel like you spend more time watching hotlaps or nothing more than actual racing.

It definitely doesn't need to be thirty again. Forty for fuel only or your force everyone to put the big tanks on to try and make it. Even then, I don't know if they can go 40 without a stop unless the races goes green, white, checkered.

They could start to venture into LM territory and make it eighty, with two forty lap features. At that point you'd really find out who is conditioned to drive eighty laps in a row, but you're also playing fast and loose with the term "sprintcar" at that point.

One change I wish they'd make is to make the C & B main longer to give the guys a chance that buried themselves (whether it was their fault or not) a little more time to dig themselves out of the hole. The B-Main has been 22 laps for what feels like forever, and with everyone having very similar equipment nowadays, those deeper runs are a thing of the past in shorter races.

Agree with that! IMO all red flag stops in sprint car racing should be fuel only. I'm also OK with checking/adjusting tire pressures byt that should be it. They say that they can't police it but that's nonsense. You police by only allowing 2 crew members per team and limiting the amount of time.
