No real wild card this year.Henderson runs well but not HL or WOO plus Larson and Day.So far weather hasnt been a factor except heavier and not as wide. Larson and Sheldon are favorites but odds of weather allowing Larson to race are slim. Sammy and Schatz sentimental favorites or guys like Watt but not this year. 50 laps like 2 races and gives teams a chance to be a spoiler but with Ripper Paul Cody and Ricky hard to do. Wednesdays finish was highlite so far.Mysterious yellow still question mark last night. Timms had racing karma or bad luck with poor draw and fuel tank issue after a good Osky showing and 360 win but every year their are feel good or feel bad stories. Haud favorite if Larson cant race other wise be too easy for Kyle off front .He wont be crowd favorite as makes it look easy sometimes. Main thing no one gets hurt close race and the season is winding down as crown jewell races are about done. When colleage football and school sports begin racing basically is winding down.

I can't understand why the people in the midwest look forward to this week when thet pretty much quit racing after it. We have three more months to race in Pa. Then we get deer season and the holidays before racing starts in Florida.

If Kyle had any respect for the sanctiity of this event he would fall on his sword and not enter when there is a possibility of a conflict.

All of these Nascar interlopers want to be sprint car gangsters. Until it's time to do sprint car gangster stuff, like grinding it out full time.

I was just waiting for this type of post. Surprised it took this long. He has every right to enter this race same as anyone else. If he were buried in the D or C Saturday, you'd have never posted this. Don't like him or Silva, then beat them.

I agree. All it does is stoke his and his fan's ego at the expense of the 25th qualifier who would have raced. If he could race Saturday I have no problem with him being there. If the other guys let him beat them that is their issue. I just consider it disrespectful to do what he does. I thought the same thing when Rico did it. I don't think I would even have as much of a problem if he gave up the spot to the first alternate but this start and park for the money is disrespectful.

I don't understand people who don't want Kyle Larson to be part of this event at all because he may not be able to come back for Saturday.

Here's my fix so everything shuts up about it:  If a locked in driver can't make it back for Saturday they open up one more spot out of the B.  The extra car out of the B gets whatever they earn in the A.  The no show driver gets first non qualifier pay.  That's fair to the track as they're paying out exactly what they would have anyway. It's fair to the team who's driver couldn't make it back.  They should be paid something.

^^^ This year it's a $5000 differential.   Seems fair to me as there should be an incentive for the team to have their driver there Saturday night.

But poor Paul Silva would go broke if Kyle didn't race for him. It's so lame and shows no regard for the event. Such a bad look for sprint car racing.

Shocking that the same posters who continually cry and whine about Larson being part of an Outlaw rival sanction are the same posters getting their panties all bunched up about Larson again. Who saw that coming, other than everyone?

Does all of this mean that the Knoxville nationals a main event does not have a plan to allow the first alternate, should one of the starters essentially scratch before the main? I'm not at all familiar with the format as things wind down to the Saturday finale, but I'm surprised such a major race doesn't have a policy that allows the first alternate to start.

Explain how having one of the best drivers in the world right now doing everything in his power to run this event other than quitting his real job is a bad look.

Really, I don't get it.  Explain.

From Nick Hoffman tonight on Twitter:

Damn it seems like every time I pull up my X there is some type of drama surrounding Knoxville. Did Big Don, Kinser or the Dude deal with this shit back in the day? Or it’s just the nature of social media. It’s a shame so many people are negative. It doesn’t matter if it’s the format, Dingus, who got arrested, who won, or why the pole sitter is not coming back tomorrow people just want to bitch. I am a race fan and I can’t wait to see who wins the nationals tomorrow.

You know what they say about opinions. With that said opinions are not right or wrong. It is best not to get excited if one doesn't alighn with yours.

I agree about this showing a lack of respect for The Nationals. I'm just another fan but If there's a good chance you won't be able to run the feature due to other obligations, why qualify? Knoxville is allowing this to happen also. If Larson can't make it he should forfeit the the starting spot and money and Knoxville should use a first alternate, but that's my simple opinion.

It's kind of funny how so many on here are excited about sprint car racing reaching a higher next level. Well here it is with all kinds of nascar type frills thrown in now, including as Hooper mentioned,  the extra benefit of senseless social media drama.  All I can say is Bravo, Bravo.

Well I guess we can put this discussion to bed. The Sprint Car God's probably had a good laugh with this one. What an incredible night.
