New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway, which hosted several WoO shows over the years, has been sold for non racing development, according to track owner Fred Vahlsing. The track had been sitting idle all season and Vahlsing announced that the track was for sale at $8.5 million. Obviously, $8.5 million for a dirt track was never going to happen. The place dates back to 1946 and spent much of its existence as an asphalt track. The facility was enlarged and transformed to dirt in 1997.

Nice track, I'm sure nearly impossible to have a race track in NJ these days.

Only 1 track in NJ (Bridgeport) now but at least it's a great one. New Egypt was certinly unique with it's tri-oval shape but IMO it didn't lend to very good sprint car racing.
