Shane Liebig Drops a racial comment on Larson. I expect close to zero reaction. Give  Larson credit for laughing it off and correcting him. His mom was Japanese, not Chinese.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Timms take out some cars in turns 3 & 4 recently at Knoxville? I also remember his no-class car owner threatening Reutzel for the then upcoming Kings Royal at Eldora. Go ahead and present yourself as a punk with a loudmouth car owner Ryan. See how far that gets you in your career.

Seems like there's a ton of awful knee-jerk reactions to this, but I assumed it was coming.

Larson pulled a shit move - nothing more to say about it. Gave Timms no chance to do anything with it, and this isn't the first time for Larson. His aggression is part of his incredible talent, but also will lead to situations like this. Also, going for the smug pseudo villain in victory lane persona sucks when this was clearly his fault.

Liebig is really speedrunning being a POS as well - there is never a good reason to use a racial slur. He had the right to be upset but going there is a mistake - combining that with flat out threatening to junk Reutzel about a month ago, I don't think Shane is a very emotionally sound person. Shame as he has a great operation.

And yes, Timms did junk Kelby Watt a month ago, but I think they're different situations - one, Timms misjudged and hit the inside berm at Knoxville, he didn't just clean Kelby's front end up on purpose, and two, it might have been the only shot Timms would have had to get by him. Larson was clearly faster than Timms, and I completely get the "no weakness, always aggressive" mindset but let's do it without risking another driver and their equipment.

Sidenote - I'm a big fan of using points and inverting to make for good heat racing, but Osky must have one really messy system if Larson qualifies fourth, finishes ninth in a heat and still starts 11th in the A, in front of guys like Bayston (13th quick, 2nd in heat) for example. Tried to find the format everywhere but it seems to not be posted online.

Yea I don't think we have to take sides. Larson is way too aggressive considering this is a hobby and people can get hurt badly in these cars. And the owner of the 10 seems like a low IQ jackass.

The problem is that Larson treats sprint car racing like his side piece and not his marital bride. HIs young hot secretary that does all the stuff, not his wife. He comes over here to the red light district to get off, then he goes back to his home in the suburbs.

But one of these days he will get pimp slapped.

Just wanted to mention last year when Sanders bombed a slider in on Larson at Chico and just junked Larson. Sanders went on to win and in victory lane said he has 2 petals just like i do maybe he needs to learn how to use both haha just saying also Timms didn't get junked thats BIG right there sider wasn't that late and the car finished 3rd and rolled into trailer , but the racial coment really needs to be adressed look what Larson has gone through in his past only now to be called racial coments by other car owners in public veiw WOW!!!

This is pretty much spot on.....I'm a huge Larson fan and couldn't believe the first thing out of his mouth wasn't an apology.  However, after hearing what went on with the racial slur, now I'm not surprised.  Either way, 90% Larson's fault.  There are some saying Timms turned down--which he technically did, but that's Larson's job to clear him and anticipate he may move 2 or 3 feet.

Timm's mistake at Knoxville was a total miss of the bottom and not in the same conversation.

On your sidenote--I didn't read the format for the show, but this supports my argument that no invert systems, points or not, work all that well for 1-night shows.  They just don't.

@SprintFan16 this is the best non-biased account of what occurred that has been posted here yet.  Excellent recap.

For me, if Larson just owns it in Victory Lane and says... hey, I should have waited another lap ot two to draw closer before throwing the slider and I made a mistake..." okay, I get it.  But for Larson to jump all over Timms saying he was nervous and making mistakes and I hit him but thats racing and I won... not a good take for a guy who is supposed to be a generational talent.

And for the keyboard drivers on here saying Timms has two pedals... you can literally see that when he realized Larson wouldn't clear him he let off or was on brakes and then tried to turn left.

And for Liebig... someone needs to tell the guy to stay out of others pits and stay off camera interviews... he does not help his driver or team with his mouth and his emotions.

Kyle was at fault. Timms wasnt the faster car but is a good driver that isnt passed easily. No room in sport for name calling. Timms won pole in foot race . Fun race to watch and come Wednesday time to concentrate on the Nationals

Yeah, the claim Timms turns down and initiates contact is pretty weak to me - Larson was carrying so much speed and was aggressively throwing a deep slider that was going to the top regardless of what Timms does or doesn't do. The 10 reacts to avoid contact and cross over but contact still happens because the 57 had made the decision several seconds before, results be damned.

I think it would have been real ugly if Timms buries it and tries to drive around - I don't think the space was there and instead of the nose wing getting knocked down, it's probably more solid contact that sends the 10 upside down and most likely outside of the track.

And I feel like I need to say this again - I fully recognize the style of racing has changed in the past decade or so, where these aggressive moves are more commonplace, and I'm trying not to specifically single Larson out but he does have some what a track record of racing like this. Others do as well on varyling levels - Carson Macedo is ultra aggressive. Kofoid has seemed to tone it down but has had issues before. Hell, Brad Sweet cleaned McFadden up twice in a five or six month span.

I'd just rather see it toned down and stuff like this be condemned as opposed to celebrated, as it seems inevitable that sooner or later something like this will bring harm or worse to a driver.

This is ridiculous and you know it.  No race track is going to remove a car (much less the defending champ) because of something an owner said at another race track.  Could you cite examples of such an event taking place "before MAGA brought racism back?"

Action would/might be taken on an INDIVIDUAL but they would not disallow the team to enter a race.

Donald Sterling got sanctioned by the NBA, the Clippers were not taken off the schedule.  Try again, please.
