If LeBon James and some fairly good college basketball players went out to the hinterlands and played some one-on-one tournaments with local high schoolers and occasional junior high players, would that produce some entertaining games to watch?

So you are referring to the high limit series as junior high players?

When larson is running like he is right now nobody is beating him. He looks like he did after nascar dumped him and he whipped everybody all summer.

Both series have top drivers that are as good as Kyle. Silva is also at same level as Cody and Ricky. It seems HL is getting better crowds lately. The woo has been around for quite a while and has a brand established. LeBron is one of the best and so is CC and people will pay to see them. Some people cheer against the best. Schatz and Kinser Wolfgang were just as good in their day. I like to see passing and current format of 6/8 in dash usually determines who makes podium. NASCAR greats would sometimes win by several laps!

Larson is in a class of his own, but comparing HL teams & drivers to HS hoopers is stupid

Read a little closer. H-L teams would be the fairly good college players.

Who would you say are the really good college players or decent pro players in the sprint car world?

Did you just say both series have drivers that are as good as kyle?  Hm.  Ok.  You heard it here first.  I've seen guys beat him from both series, but Steve Kinser also got beat before by Erin Crocker, Blake Feese and Tony Bruce Jr.  I would never say those 3 were just as good as Steve.....

Kyle is on a different level and does things in a sprint car on a regular basis that other guys will not attempt.   (With the exception of Corey Day, and Sheldon, though Sheldon's results tend to be more disasterous when he attempts the same moves)

Next time, just say "I don't like Kyle Larson."  It's much easier than making ridiculous statements.    ;)

Bad analogy because racing is not always a meritocracy, the most talented don't always have the money to move up. Also, not all race cars are the same.  Most nascar drivers would get lapped in a sprint car.

To be fair, Larson has won 5 H-L races so far this year, and has lost 5 races this year, so he's not invincible.

Anybody else batting .500 in sprint cars?

(Since we're mixing sports comparisons.... ;) )

I see your point...so the "HS players" would be local racers? Like Macri & Timms?

Really, the whole analogy is pretty dumb.... sounds like Lebron & the "Pretty good college players" would be on the same team? If its a team sport (which racing isn't) why would they be playing "one on one tournaments"????

Actually, NBA pros used to play locals on an outside court & it was entertaining as hell: The Rucker Tournament in Harlem...I was there, before Dr. J even had his nickname: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jK6OPqHpyWo

I don't see a problem with the comparison of the OP. Racing has development levels if you are a hired driver but when you have the money anyone can race anywhere. Just show up and register. So we will have extremely fast skilled guys race unknown drivers every night. Problem is that when Larson shows up the ends of the skill spectrum get stretched far beyond normal.

My issue is putting up a bunch of money to intice teams to your series and then going and taking it. My opinion doesn't mean anything. I will however predict that it will get old with race teams eventually. That being said I have said that the last time he did this the result was other teams upping their game to where they started beating him. I will also say that if I am watching a HL race and larson times near the top I switch to another race if there is one on. It is sort like watching reruns on TV.

?  No driver is, or has ever been unbeatable.  Steve Kinser lost 23 races in 1987 and was considered invincible.  Schatz in his hayday and Larson today are about as close to Kinser's 1987 as we've gotten, but I would never say in any of the years of Kinser, Schatz, or Larson's 2020 for example that there were other drivers as good.  That's just silly.  At the pace Larson is once again setting this season, claiming others are just as talented is just ridiculous.  They're not.

Larson would kick the shit out of either series. He has won three of the last five Nationals in Sprint Car racing's biggest race. Every top driver in Sprint Car racing would be winning fewer races and earning less money if Larson was full time in Sprint Cars.

True statement by the truth teller.

He could take the high limit title 1 year then the outlaws the next. Sweet knew it and even made the comment about him going back to nascar.

IMO the racers of the past the big 3 ....had much better equipment than the rest of the field... i remember going to Lernerville to watch the my first WOO race and i went into the pits after and was talking to a local guy and he made a commnet that the WOO guys had more money in the motors than he had in his truck trailer and race car combined....but to the present there are a lot of cars with really good equipmnet... What seems to make the list for the top guys are the crew chiefs and the amount of time that they have in the sport....note books full of great info....but for me this is the golden age of sprint car racing... i have both packages and i get to watch races that i would of never got to see in person...being retired and older driving long distance to watch in person are not going to happen as often as i like
