I just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with the AFCO Edge shock package (https://www.speedwaymotors.com/AFCO-EDGE4-P-Edge-Valve-Winged-Sprint-Car-Shock-Package-All-Track,25645.html). For someone new to Sprints such as myself the idea of a Slick, Rough, Tacky, etc. package vs mixing and matching numbers is a lot easier to learn, especially while trying to learn everything else. I'm just wondering if these shocks perform well, and most importantly if the packages actually work and make sense. Currently I have Pro Shocks shocks and I'm trying to figure if it is worth the $1900 it would cost for the AFCOs or invest in some additional Pros to round out what I've got. I've been told by a few people who all run Pros to stick with Pros but would like to hear from someone who has actually run the AFCO package and what their opinion is on it.

W2M:  That package is very similar to the Afco shocks that we ran on my car from 2010-2017.  I think it is a great package that really helps to simplify the process of adjsuting your car to the track.  The first set of gas afco's we had won at Devil's Bowl ASCS Winternationals the second night on them.  Same valvings - just gas.  That exact same set of shocks won in 2018 in 305 competition.  The hardest part about sprint car racing (or dirt racing in general) is reading the race track.  If you read the race track correctly, yoDB 2011 Tim Aylwin photou will probably have the right shocks on 99% of the time with this package.  MB

Thank you - I appreciate the insight! This is definitely what I was hoping to get. I don't expect the shocks to be magic by any stretch but anything that will simplify shock choice would definitely be a huge help. I've been involved in racing as a fan and promoter long enough that I think I have a decent grasp of track reading, but choosing rebound and compression of shocks based on that is where I started to get lost.

Thanks!

Jeff.

Well, as much as I hate to admit it - there is no majic in any of the shocks.  A lot of racers use them as a crutch, some them who are really sharp (not me) can use them to fine tune their cars really well.  Pro's have a certain feel that a lot of drivers like, I think the Afco's are very similar in feel.  My 360 won with the same four shocks at Little Rock, Belleville and everywhere in between.  And, if you have any questions both Afco and Pro have great customer service.  Speedway's shock department, Kyle, Marcus, Jason and crew are all super to work with as well.  Good Luck!

W2Motorsports, I sent you a PM with some information. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I spent 8 years at AFCO and PRO and now work for Leary Shock Technology after PRO moving to Lincoln Nebraska.
