Just my observation, but the 305 Nationals is paying more through the field (7-27) than the 360 Nationals.

360 Nationals is very top heavy, but that is typical with most events. The teams deserve a better

spread/increase in the payout. The Saturday crowd at this years 360 Nationals was impressive as it should

be for the primere 360 event.

I'm sure they will take your check as donation to add to the purse.

Yungwun24 - The 305 Nationals is 3 days.

Ford97 - It is Apples to Oranges, but I was only using the 305 Nationals to make a point. I could use any big show purse to compare. I just wanted to get a good discussion going to see what others thought about the payout for the 360 Nationals. However you made a good point that the 305 series is an introductory series (no disbute there) but their payout throught the field is better than the 360 Nationals. To be the "360 Nationals" it should be better in my opinion...

jah42 - I do contribute to the purse every year by attending the race, like Ford97 said, is great racing and the crowds are getting better. ;)

springfn1 - :)

I'll shut up now...

If they buy a 410 they can race for 150k a week later. Simple solution

Great idea, maybe since they don't make money during the regular season too, they should not even race weekly.

I'm sure Knoxvilles business revenue suffers as well from the 360 Nationals! When I pull into town on Thursday of the 360 Nationals there already a ton of people in town. Racers, Campers & Fans... Hell I usually drop $100 on my first night there and it's just me alone.

I should add that Knoxville's 360 seems to have grown over the years in crowd attendance. Seems like each year more and more people are showing up earlier, including the food and merchandise vendors.

I'm not sure if people know this but for 360 Nationals,  qualifying nights purse is $3k to the winner. I truly don't know so I don't want this to come off as condescending or being a smart ass but what is the qualifying nights winners get?

Texdel - good topic. I think we can always say raise the purse but I never thought Knoxville's weekly or nationals purses were too low.

You also need to look at 3 day purse.  The C and D mains pay as little as $15.00 .  The granstands are good, and the min. pay for any feature all three days should be no less than $50.00 which is nothing.  Can you imagine driving back to Calif.  and cashing your nationals check for $15.00.

The 360 nationals never has been promoted to me to be the Dolly Lamma of events. I went for the first time this year since I have been attending Knoxville and spent 9 of the 10 days watching racing and the 360 event is awesome!!! It's starting to get a ChilliBowl feel to me. The drivers do not seem to  care so much about the money but like the "CHAMPION TAG"  that goes with it.

I dunno about all the lost revenue ventures talked about on this forum. You cant make money with a race track and knoxville loses money all season and can't make money with a 3 day national event. Others say you cant make money with a gas staion or hotel or farming but all these places remain in operation. Im thinking the evidence says you can make money and they do make money but they just want us to believe they lose so we appreciate the entry costs and lack of prize money.

Just for the record I do make money at my business and that is about the only reason I keep doing it year after year.

Can’t see a sense of urgency on Knoxville’s part to change payout since they are drawing close to 100 cars as it is.  I’ve never been to 360 nats but I hear crowds are getting bigger for it every year

I am not sure if it is still in the rule book or not, but when the 305's started up in my area, it was in the rules that the winner could only make twice what the last place person made.   If you look at the 305 nationals purse, they are following this rule.   It was explained that it was not about making a lot of money for the win, but spreading the money out so everyone could get back to the track.

I have enjoyed watching many 305's races.   I generally enjoy all classes.   However, I also agree that I would never plan an overnight trip to watch the 305's, or pay extra at the front gate to watch them.
