At Enid's USMTS races on October 5th&6th, Woodward, Oklahoma's Tommy Weder, Jr. who is having a strong year and was third in California a week earlier, scored his first USMTS win for $2000 on Friday night while Kelly Shryock returned to victory lane on Saturday night for the $3000 win. They had 45 cars each night. In spite of the win, Shryock's tenth on Friday and lack of passing points in the feature allowed second place USMTS Southern Series points man Randy Timms to close to 85 points of the lead with nine races to go. Timms had two top 5s in Enid. Two strong runner-ups with passing points by Jason Hughes moved him into third at -135. Hughes and Weder (-179) both passed Greg Skaggs (-183) in the Southern Series standings. Greg had a third on Friday but slipped to 13th on Saturday. Jeremy Payne was fourth on Friday while Minnesota's Tim Donlinger had a 6th and a 4th. Jon Tesch had a top five on Saturday and Eddie Martin had an 11th and an 8th. Phil Dixon of Crosby, TX was 16th Saturday night.

Special motel rates, $79, at Holiday Inn on Walton Road @ IH10. (409) 842-5995. Large parking area. Just mention Motorama Speedway.

I've been told those rooms normally go for $129 so they should be really nice. Here's a map:

Steve Holzkamper scored the $1000 win on night one! Rest of the finishers are sketchy at this time. I believe Randy Timms was second with Greg Skaggs, 3rd but that's totally unofficial. Kelly Shryock hurt a motor late in the race and limped home 4th. He may have been leading when he broke. Jason Hughes broke early and finished last I think. Again, these results are by phone and all unofficial.

Jeff should have something official posted on the USMTS.com website soon. The website message board is down.

There is still a combined $5000 to win up for grabs on Friday & Saturday. Action heats up to night with $2000 to win in Modifieds and $700 to win in Limited Mods (NO entry fee for Limiteds!).

HOLLEY “A” MAIN (30 laps):
1. 5 - Steve Holzkamper -- Gentry, AR (1) - Led all the way!
2. 5t - Randy Timms -- Wheatland, OK (4) - just 78 points behind Shryock
3. 27 - Greg Skaggs -- Bixby, OK (10) at -175, is it too late with 8 races to go for Greg to get back in the race?
4. 3 - Kelly Shryock -- Fertile, IA (7) -- they tell me he broke something and still limped home fourth. He was a rocket at Motorama back in April. The most dominant performance I've seen any Modified have anywhere this year
5. 02 - Tommy Weder Jr. -- Woodward, OK (2) -- Just another top five! This guy's had a great year!
6. 4 - Shane Hebert -- Scott, LA (12) - Nice run again with USMTS for this south Louisiana UMP start!
7. 19b - Jamie Burford -- Keatchie, LA (11) - another top ten!
8. 1w - Howard Willis -- Dayton, TX (13) - he'll get 'em one night!
9. 83 - Willy Kraft -- Lakefield, MN (14)
10. 5W - John O. Whittington -- Vidor, TX (15) -- Don't count ever count him out at Motorama!
11. 25 - Scott Green -- Derby, KS (17)
12. 89 - Steven Whiteaker Jr. -- Corpus Christi, TX (8) -- good to Steve make the A through the heats. Maybe his luck is about to change for the better!
13. 2w - Paul White -- Temple, TX (21) -- A nice top 5 at Texas DIRT last week in a Bills Built Chassis!
14. 21b - Brandon Kenny -- East Woodward, OK (16)
15. 4r - Derek Ramirez -- Woodward, OK (9)
16. 54 - Dena Wilson -- Coweta, OK (18) -- No provisional for Dena!
17. 22 - Tracy Denby -- Vidor, TX (6) -- qualified well!
18. 118 - John Arther -- Sour Lake, TX (20) DNF
19. 8 - Steve Miller -- Georgetown, TX (19) DNF -- gald to see Steve back out with USMTS. He had that scary fire at Monticello back in July.
20. 561 - David Horner -- Houston, TX (24) DNF
21. L1 - Larry Clevenger -- Greenwood, LA (5) DNF -- qualified good...AGAIN..finish???
22. 7g - Mark Smith -- Lufkin, TX (22) DNF
23. 12 - Jason Hughes -- Westville, OK (3) DNF -- points killer? We'll see...8 races to go is a long ways!
24. A1 - Phil Dixon -- Crosby, TX (23) DNS

REAL RACING WHEELS “B” MAIN #1 (12 laps, top 5 advance):

6. 97j - Jeff Hogeh -- New Caney, TX (4) - one spot from the show!
7. 32 - Kevin Pratt -- Houston, TX (11)

$3000 to win USMTS Modified feature tonight (Saturday) that also pays $250 to start the 24-car field on a $125 entry fee of which $80 is guaranteed back in tow money! Complete show with heats, B mains and around a 40-lap feature event. 22 spots open for qualifying with 2 USMTS provisionals. It pays $300 to start if you have a USMTS license. $30 pit pass.

Gates open at 4, hot laps at 6 with racing starting at 6:30. Also racing Limited Modifieds ($1000 to win) and Pure Stocks (Bombers). No entry fees in either class. Just three classes total so folks, we're done by 10, 10:30 at the latest!!!! No joke. This is a Todd Staley promoted event and he has like a .950 batting average at getting these shows done in under 4 hours. It'll be like going to your average football game time wise and you will see one whale of a dirt track race too!

Adult grandstand is just $15. Kids 6-14: $5 5 & under: free!

Last night saw Oklahoma's Tommy Weder, Jr. come from 4th starting spot to get his second ever USMTS Modified win over a 40-car field! His teammate Jason Hughes rallied from 11th to 2nd. Thursday night's winner Steve Holtzkamper from Gentry, Arkansas finished third with 8-time USMTS National Champion Kelly Shryock from Fertile, Iowa coming from 14th to 4th! Kelly had to win a B main to get in the show last night.

Right on Shryock's heels was Vidor, Texas racer John Whittington. John-O came from 15th! Steven Whiteaker, Jr. posted a fine sixth place finish with Paul White getting 7th. Paul also has a 2nd and a 3rd so far in Limited Modified action. Nicholas Littlejohn was the 4th Texan to make top ten last night! Howard Willis who has won both Limited Modified features so far did the top ten trick Thursday night as did John-O. Shane Hebert and Jamie Burford from Louisiana also scored top tens on Thursday night.
Too tough to make these A mains you say? In the last two nights the following drivers qualified for the A mains:

Jesse Manning, Brazoria, TX (was last night's pole sitter!)
Dustin "Tater" Hyde, Texarkana, TX (finished 12th last night!)
Jeff Hoegh, New Caney, TX
John Parker Jr., Boyce, LA
Robert Corbello, Beaumont, TX
David Horner, Houston, TX
Jeff Wood, Willis, TX
Chad Fitzgerald, Baytown, TX
Brandon Kenny, East Woodward, OK
Derek Ramirez, Woodward, OK
Dena Wilson, Coweta, OK
Tracy Denby, Vidor, TX
John Arther, Sour Lake, TX
Steve Miller, Georgetown, TX
Larry Clevenger, Greenwood, LA
Mark Smith, Lufkin, TX

If you're a Modified "player" within range of this show tonight, no excuses. See ya there!
