FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DAMION GARDNER RETURNS TO PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY ON 60S NIGHT!
(SEPTEMBER 25, PERRIS, CA) Damion Gardner, the 2005 USAC/CRA Sprint Car champion, will return to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night, September 29th, when Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply presents the Lucas Oil sponsored series. Saturday will be 1960s Night and anyone who was born in the 1960s can show a valid id at the ticket booth and get in for the 1960s price of just $5.00. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00.
Gardner, a native on Concord, California, became the hero of many and raised the ire of others and he thrilled everyone with his elbows up driving style at The PAS over the past few years. Before the 2007 campaign, he teamed with NASCAR Busch Series driver Jason Leffler to race in the USAC Nationals Sprint Car Series based out of Indiana. The National Series completed its 2007 campaign last Saturday night at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway with the 4-Crown Nationals. Gardner qualified fifth fast of the 45 cars that turned a timed lap and ended up sixth in the 30-lap main event. Heading out west, Gardner is ninth in USAC National Sprint Car points.
Known as "The Demon," the slender star will not only be at The PAS on Saturday, but at the other races remaining on The PAS' and Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car schedule including the 12th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals, Western World Championship at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Arizona and the Jack Kindoll Classic at The PAS in November.
When Gardner returns on Saturday, he will have to contend with the hottest non-wing Sprint Car driver on the West Coast. Riverside, California's David Cardey won his first ever 410 Sprint Car main event at The PAS four weeks ago. He backed that up with another win two weeks ago. In the three races at other tracks since that first win, Cardey has only finished out of the top five one time (a sixth last Friday night in Tucson, Arizona).
Popular "Showtime" Danny Sheridan, of Santa Maria, California, won the last main event in the series last Saturday night at Manzanita Speedway. It was his second win of the 2007 campaign and propelled him up to third in the point standings.
Do not forget, the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars next appearance at The PAS after this Saturday will be on Sunday night, October 7th, during the Southern California Fair. Your ticket to the fair (adults only $8.00) will get you into the races.
This Saturday the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA regulars will welcome "The Demon" back with a push here, shove there and California style SLIDE JOBS! The show will include qualifying, 10 lap heat races, a 12 lap B-Main and vicious 30-lap A-Main event.
