Do you know what is worse than a school teacher at a race track?

A school teacher that drives a sprint car. That equation is kinda scary if you know what I mean lmao... HE-HE...

there is no doubt it was a great show but it will be hit and miss lawton had good planning being the only 2 barrell show in the state this last week this week i would think pocola or enid will be the best 2 barrell show that is just my opinion where do you drivers plan on running this week would love to go see a great show

It looks like Enid is the place of choice for this weekend. Lawton won't pull that many cars weekly. They'll pull the Sellers', Owens (that's just my guess), and the other normal weekly guys. The Meeker guys will go back to Meeker and the traveling guys will continue to travel. I do think that there will be a race every week that is the "bigger" of the races if that makes sense. A lot of the drivers are talking to each other week in and week out talking about where to run and we'll all run where the money is which this week is Enid.

Hey guys I'm new to Oklahoma and I went to the races last night at Lawton Speedway

and they had a great program. I thought the Champ sprints put on a great show and was wondering what other tracks her in oklahoma run them and what nights they run on.

Thanks

if you like champ sprint racing.........you will really love ASCS.

I think Hilbers answered your question to perfection, but to add just a tick to that.......who the heck could possibly not have great anticipation for the OCRS race at Lawton comin' up in June? that should be a barnburner!

Even tho lime many I am still sore at the lack of what we used to on fridays :(

I do look forward to all the open wheel racing in Oklahoma in the month of June.

Friday June 4th: ASCS National Tour at Outlaw Motor Speedway
Saturday June 5th: ASCS Sooner Region at Lawton Speedway

Friday June 11th: ASCS2 + ASCS Midgets at Creek County Speedway
Saturday June 12th: OCRS at Creek County Speedway/ ASCS midgets + weekly show at Lawton Speedway

June 18th and 19th? take your pick.
Devil's Bowl Speedway is running a ASCS Sooner vs. ASCS Lone Star Shootout both nights. Port City Raceway is running ASCS2 both nights. And oh yeah - the Sprint Bandits will be at Creek County on Friday the 18th. like I said - pick your poison lol.

Friday June 25th: OCRS at Outlaw Motor Speedway
Saturday June 26th: OCRS at Lawton Speedway

It's a lot more traveling to see a months worth of quality 2 day shows than pretty much any other time for the last 20+ years (if you were a weekly patron of SFS)......BUT - it is possible. as long as one is ok with the gas bill and really late nights! ;) lol

Brandon I think your just about wright. If it was not for ASCS followers and the OCRS this weekend there would probably be more at Enid. But hey if there is 10 or so left at Lawton and Meeker to run most Saturday nights this season what the heck. That is the way it will be all season and that's ok, along with all of the support classes at each track all of the locals will get their fix. But there is more sprint cars not running and either track now and most people don't realise it.

If Enid does run the Sprints like I have heard this year I think it will be the smart thing to do. As expensive as tires and fuel is this year, and as tight as money is these days most guys don't care to run for points anymore. They can't afford it anymore and most people get burnt out because the cost has taken the fun out of racing and it is what it is...

Travel that's funny, hell since SFS is gone everybody has to travel just about anywhere you want to race or go and watch a good race.

I am not trying to get on my soap box again BUT a little more money gets you more cars in the pits and people in the stands. You do not need to run every Saturday out of a 25 week point season run 12 or so sprint shows for a little more money than what is being paid now. If you run 25 point shows at 500 to win with a normal pay back no matter how many showed up. Or run less number of Sprint car shows 12 or so a season with a 750 or 800 to win and with a good pay back it will bring more cars. Due the math the track would probably bring in more money doing it that way, because your full body and modified supporters will be there anyway. It's common sense if you are a racer and a purse with 300 more to win and a better pay back. Most would say (not all) whats another few extra miles further. More fans will show up when you have a race that they can't see every weekend.

Until a race track steps up and gambles on promoting a good local weekly sprint car show. I am just afraid in a couple of years they won't be around anymore. Or we will need to get used to a 10 to 12 car Sprint A-Features on an average. jmo...
