Bottom line is the city government that is in place now love anything but dirt track racing and it is what it is.
It will cost more to tear down the ole' girl than to fix all of her problems back to code. It has been said the cost to tear down the grandstands and level the track might cost approximately of 4 to 5 million . 3 or 4 million to bring it up to code. So there you go politics hard at work to stick it to the racing community.
They want to have another hockey team in OKC and they know right where they want to build the new convention center for their team..
Besides appeal's and a long court battle the only thing left to do is bend over and take it like a real race fan.
Life goes on but that don't mean we got to like getting screwed.

I agree. While I would like nothing better than to see something good happen on appeal, I am not expecting it to happen, given my knowledge of the political climate around Oklahoma City. All of the judges here play golf with the city officials, it would be unrealistic to expect a reversal of the decisions of the city.
I too believe that the only thing that is left to do is to bend over and take it, but it doesn't mean that we have to like getting screwed over. It is time to start making plans for the 2010 season, wherever that might be.

Todays stick and ball sports "quietly imply" that it's okay to do drugs, raise fighting dogs in cages, and bring guns to locker rooms etc., and get second chances.
Darryl Strawberry
Mark Mcguire
Micheal Irvin .........etc.
Kids watch. They learn fast. Racing has held a tight conservative grip on such issues since it needs so much money to operate. Kids (like I was) get the impression that staying out of such things keeps them in line to participate. When the driver from your corner stands 10 feet tall, you watch what he does.
Kids KNOW, that not everyone grows 6'5", 300 lbs with muscle, or be able to knock a ball 300 yards. Even if they do, life may not have them in those plans. Dirt track racing is for the everyday person.
I have found just as many solid good people at the race track, as I have found in the best Churches anywhere. And yes, I have spent some time in those...............that's where I learned to ramble in front of a crowd. ...............well, that and the FFA

Olkahoma City is not unto itself. It is surrounded by a state that needs money. If those rats are hoarding up the cheese, there are bigger rats that want a piece of it.
Oklahoma City officials are 'mid-management' in the eyes of the State. On the National level, they are lower level management.
The larger our group grows, the more the upper levels will want our favor. And yes, there is a way to gain that favor.

The facebook group is growing everyday and show is the online petition signatures. Like I said in an earlier thread the savefairspeedway group got around 400 signatures on Sat at the racers auction.
More and more people are wanting to help and we are finally making some head way in some roads we were trying to go down.
The more people that come on board the more we can do as a group.

stands at times of challenge and controversy."

Just because the state and the nation are starving for revenues does not automatically mean that they are going to start looking to the desires of the little guys, especially when the average person actually believes the lies that they tell us when they are campaigning. They would rather look after the interests of the elites that surround them, such as the Clay Bennetts, the Humphries', the Noricks, etc. This attitude permeates throughout the city, state, and national governments. We are always taught that cliche, that we are the government. Well, there are some people who are the government, however those people are the elitists, and there are a lot of them that pervade the legal system.
