Brian, what one have you seen? On the CAE prints on e-bay, the ones listed now, they don't appear to be a "how to build' detailed plan. Are there different versions?

How much more detailed do these prints need to be? Most people(even me at times) think that builders back then made identical cars throughout a year or even nearly a decade, and they didn't. From what i gather, these prints are a guideline.
Fabrication ability, knowing the equipment you'll be using on the car, somewhere in there is your next race car.
Even Edmunds stated he built to suit the customer, meaning not all of his 35 or so supers were identical. Back then Edmunds worried more about keeping the shop doors open than he did about making history. I'm sure all builders faced the same issues.
Case in point for Nance regarding 1972- Monorail or spaceframe......springer or 4-bar. Build only so many cars a year and add in what each PAYING customer wants, you have a lot of variables.
Just an opinion from what I've seen and heard. Give me 5 minutes, I may have to change it. lol

Another way to look at it.
AJ Watson's first roadsters were from a drawing on the shop floor. As changes had to be made, he did so on the floor too. When he moved to another house in the late 50's, he had to borrow one of his customers cars to copy his own design.

I see what you mean... I guess i assumed there was a CAE print and others that had detailed measurements for a first timer.

In 1964, I built a CAE sprint frame with removable cage & cross bar rear & cross spring front. It had detail measurements. CAE also had a super modified frame & had cross or parallel bars for the rear.
