Not to get on anybody's bad side, Gary owens is a very talented driver, he is not the cleanest driver out there though. I have seen him take out many people. I remember last year at lawton winter nationals he took out Danny coming out of the last turn and he took the win. I have always been a robert fan but what he did friday got a little out of hand. JMO- Both of the drivers should of been sent off the track.

I remember WINTER NATIONALS last year, that's why I am not a Gary Owens fan......

Ok,

Time for me to chime in a bit with my 2 cents. I was trying to stay out of this one.

First off, I do agree with Robert getting the back flag for going back around and spinning (I had better not say my opinion of him or his dad on here) out, but the fact is that it should have never come to that as Robert was being told on the radio to get in front of the as* where he belonged. Owens started crying, and gunned the throttle when Robert went to pull in line. Then, as Robert is getting restarted, Owens is told over the radio to stay in line, and Robert to go to the back. Why the heck is that? In my opinion, it should have been the opposite (I have seen cars sent to the back of the line, or even black flagged several times this year for not allowing somebody back in front of them) or at the worst, both of them sent to the back, even though that doesnt really make sense either. Next, Sluggo calls on the radio to ask the flagman, or anybody else who is afraid to speak their mind, if they saw anything. Crazy where 5 or 6 officials scattered around the track all see nothing. Makes me wonder how they even know when there is a wreck, or anything else (wait, I almost forgot, they have proven to us that they don't even see those (remember the factory stock race a couple of weeks ago)) going on on the track. As far as anyone on here opening their mouths and bad mouthing Robert for what he did, maybe all you Owens lovers should take your rose colored glasses off and sit in a race car seat one time. If you did, you might understand what I am talking about. Now, I am not saying I agree with what Robert did, but I can't say I blame him either. How would ya'll have handled it? You eventually get tired of taking the B.S. There are several drivers out there who can get away with what they want, and of course the officials never see a thing.

Whoever it was that said that Butler Jr is a cheap driver, have you ever seen him race before except for the week he threw the helmet at the dipsh*t? Once again, what would you have done had you been in his shoes? Don't you think you would get tired of being "Deckerized" or "Owenized", or "Whitized" or ???

Question for everybody? How would you have handled the situation if your in his shoes? Not asking what you saw, because apparently alot of other people are blind out there also, but what would you have done if you were spun out while trying to get in line in the place that the officials are telling you on the radio to get into? Also, I can tell you that the FACT of the officials telling Robert to get in line ahead of Crybaby is not just Roberts opinion. There are 19 other racers who have radios who heard it (maybe Gary's head was to far up the midgets butt to be able to hear his radio, but others heard it). Even Sluggo said that they were telling Robert to get in there.

Sorry for the ramble,

but what would you have done?

Guten Tag,

The whole situation was created because of a poorly run track, plain and simple. It is very clear that Mr. Robert Sellers was trying to abide by what he was being told on the radio to do. I would call that being obediant and following the rules. However you have this grown man who is upset because he does not want Robert to cut in front of him( Remember school- No cuts!. You defended that spot till death if that is what it took). It is hot out there and the poor guys in those hot suits- tempers flare. They look to the officals to keep things running smoothly and fairly. If other tracks can do it why is this such a problem with the Edwards tracks? I do not condone Mr. Sellers retaliation but the way he has been maligned and picked on is unreal to me. I was never a sprint car fan but the more I watched Mr. Sellers race the more I began to love the sport. I liked him because he raced clean and was a very smart racer. I wonder if because he won so many races their is a bit of jealousy there. Also people can create an image of someone that is not true. The old wests" colorful characters are an example. Alot of what we now know is fiction.

I disagree about Lawton. It is a very beautiful place, at least the outskirts of town.but the people appear to have a vigilante justice. What happened at Lawton is, not to be funny, but rather- lawless. People are going to have a negative image of a place when you hear that the crowd( including fry cooks)ran onto the tracks and began pummeling a couple guys. Sounds like a riot to me. The guy that shimmied up the flagstand on Friday, lost control. He was not wrong to be angry , it is just the way he handled it. I think people are fed up with this promoter and the tracks. What can be done? Maybe it needs to be brought to the attention of someone who can do something to ensure fairness and above all the safety of the drivers and the fans. It is supposed to be fun. Is this what anyones idea of fun is?

as for the suggestion of anger manement well it sounds to me like that would include not just mMr. Sellers, but Mr. Owens, and at least a few of the people who have posted. Point a finger at someone else and there should be a few pointing back at you.

Auf Weidersehen,

Frau Shultz

My comment about Butler Jr. stems from the fact that he is not a very good driver, not dirty, just not very good kinda like the 'hammer'. I am a good and longtime friend of Danny J. and good and longtime friend of the Owen's family. Two very good drivers not willing to give an inch, ever. I saw what Gary did to the 23, I would have done the same. The 23 ran him off the track or to the infield every time he stuck his nose near him, a lot like Butler does. Friday night the officials who cannot score anything right caused the problem. I have seen many drivers bump or block the other guy to not let them in. The driver does not want to give up the position. The officials need TRANSPONDERS. Danny who is a good and longtime friend has no problem with Owens. Danny has no problem with Brian McClelland either who blocked Danny lap after lap until Danny moved him. Whit who is a good and longtime friend drives hard. If you can't stay home. Why do you think Neighbors stays home? Guys who cry all the time, guys who go into a corner and stop ( 25 leep), guys who block ( 23 Taylor, 14 Butler) guys who send crewmwmbers crying ( 13 Stike) enough said.

When was the last time frustrations around the track were running this high? Seems like higher than any other time in the seven years I have been attending. Several drivers are upset to the verge of fighting (even more than the few who are that way every year) and confidence in track managment appears to be almost non-existant. That's a shame at a place as big and historic as OKC. This track should be a standard by which others are measured, not the source of this much frustration.

They pissed off a lot of people in the Supers last night. Especially for only starting the night with 18 cars. And it all started with 2 heats of 9 cars each. Is this the freaking knoxville nationals? That's just a good way to tear cars up.

That is because they had to have 2 heats for 9 factories.

Wow, they accually got the races in Friday? I was planning on stopping by SFS on my way to Tulsa, but when I drove by the track around 6, it was raining so hard I couldn't see five feet in front of me.

Oh as part of the 'Deliverance clan' (being from Lawton) I see nothing wrong with a good ol' fashioned rivelry. One of the best things about Steve and Sammy on the same track was watching them bring the very best out of each other. Pretty sure I've seen the samething with 'Golden Boy' and Sellers.

My take: Lanny staged the whole thing to fill the stands for the Winter Nationals. ;)

Deliverance Clan is in reference the Edwards family tree that resembles a phone pole.

Sellers was trying to get in where they were telling him to and Owens wouldn't listen to the officials. Got that from Sellers himself.

That wasn't the black flag that the avid Sellers fan had in his hand it was MY seat cushion, it happens to be black. And the cops did the right thing they threw me out. That's OK I don't like them either.

Wow! You are a Fan ! That was great, maybe you should get a checkered seat cushion cause your ass was a winner on that one. To bad you were tossed. Tony Stewart climbs to the flag stand all the time and takes the checkered flag, he don't get escorted out! Hee haw!

I will say this......Maybe Sellers should have been more willing to wait and allow the officials time to correct Owens and if he didn't comply he would have been Black Flagged. Taking action because you are right isn't the right thing to do always. Let the offending party play out their little game by themselves. It only makes them look silly and pisses off the Grandstand Fans.

I also think that Official Transmissions to the drivers should be broadcast over the loud speakers in the pits for sure, and maybe some in the grandstands. It would end alot of guessing and let everyone know instantly what is being asked of a driver and who is not complying with the officials.

I'm a Sellers, Joe Bob Lee, Michael Brown, Larry Flecther, Shawn Bloomquest, and Owens Fan.

Sellers and Owens should suck it up, knock it off, drive to the best of their ability and bring a hell of a show to the fans and may the best driver win!

Mike

Thanks for taking up for us, and you are very right. Contrary to popular belief, being self employed doesn't give you the freedom to take off whenever you want. I'm usually working on jobs, checking on jobs, going to supply houses, ect. during the day, then up all night working on paperwork, ect. Not to mention keeping up with three little ones during it all. No rest for the wicked!
