This is really good stuff here. In 84' Gary B. came down a day early to promote the challenge deal, he was big fun to hang with. The coolest part of the whole weekend was when Gary, Joe Saldana & Billy Engelhart all came out for hot laps they had on open face helmets w/bandanas! Wow. Real men. Of course during the race they wore more modern equipment, but that was big fun.

In '85, Johnny Parsons, Jr. came in early to do some promo work. He was GREAT. Super nice guy and a heck of a racer. I think Bettenhausen came with him. Never a big fan of his.

Those four NCRA/USAC races will stand as four of the greatest shows in Oklahoma racing history. The rivalry became so intense leading up to the fireworks of the '86 race.

Somewhere I have pictures of Englehart donning his helmet prior to the '83 feature. Open face, goggles and bandana. I think he even had on leather gloves.

Somewhere in a box of programs/Open Wheel magazines I have programs from at least 1 of the USAC/NCRA's.

I agree,nw Bill about those being the 4 greatest shows in Okla racing history.
