Bill,

These are fantastic statistics, continue the great work.

I want to clarify the ' distinct races' note, for example OH had 81 410 wing events, if one had the means, they could have raced in 53 events without conflict of another race in the state, one could have attended/raced 53 events?

That is correct.

And that's why Posse historically has not hit the road. No need. There use to be more in the past.

No doubt everyone is different and has their own traditions. But a dumbass stereotyping a whole region of the country deserves to be called out ....

You're right...

But i think he was joking around... you got pretty mad! ;)

Ha - I think you're thinking about how fast people talk not how fast they go.  Otherwise, why would central PA import drivers from the south (Bobby Davis, Jr , Greg Hodnett)?  And I'm pretty sure more World of Outlaws feature winners started out in West Memphis than any other track.  But yeah, sprint car racing is pretty much non existent in the mid-south now.  Still seems to be popular though given the crowds I've seem when the traveling series show up.  I think there is just not as much money here as other parts of the country and sprint cars run on money as much as methanol. That, and the fact that the back-gate promotors have strangled the life out of the racing.

Love your handle, hopefully it is for the rock version of the song by maybe the greatest Rock band of all-time, Lynyrd Skynyrd....Bill V. your work is amazing, what you bring to this forum is one of the reasons I keep lookin' in.....

Well, actually it is a nod to Jimmie Rodgers.  And the fact that I grew up in Tennessee, moved to Texas for almost 30 years, and ended up back in Tennessee.  Not a fan of the post crash Skynyrd, but man, they could rock.  There is a video of one of their concerts at Winterland in San Francisco from the 70's on youtube..just incredible.  And they invented a whole genre.

Well, I woudn't consider them the best.   But based on that footage, i regret that I never saw them live in their prime.  Almost a guilty pleasure these days though as I feel like I have a few more teeth than their current fan base :) which reminds me of a Warren Zevon song..Play it All Night Long...

I can't speak for all the South, but I can for Texas. We do love sprint cars, but unfortunately we have more 360 racing than 410's, actually 410 racing is nonexistent here, other than the WoO making the trip here once a year. 360 racing doesn't draw the attention of the sprint car masses like 410's do.

410 teams don't come down here because of the lack of fan base, it’s because of how far the teams would have to travel between tracks. Other than that, we help keep PPV companies in business and try to make annual trips to a few big races up North.

There is no sprint car racing in Louisiana. Being from Ohio that has been a hard pill to swallow. I have made plans to travel to Texas for the WoO spring shows the last three years only to be rained out every year. I just can't catch a break! I still go back to Ohio every July for the Kings Royal though!

Louisiana had some 360 wing racing in 2019

...and 4 currently scheduled for 2020

I was actually directing my comment to MSPN who made the original claim...

I watched Skynrd version too... damn good. Also listened to Jimmie Rodgers... almost totally different songs, other than lyrics

BIll V: Sorry, I plead guilty to hijacking. Had to respond to Southern fan being insulted, & it went from there. It IS "Silly Season" right? ;)
