You can tell everyone who you're referring to.  I don't care if they know that I brought up that talking point.  I can even tell you everything people called me because of my opinion.  I conceded that yes, it was a double but it still felt like a bit of a clown show.  I remember Foyt and Rutherford racing at our state fair decades ago.  No red carpet, no dramatic arrival, they just came here and raced like any other driver in the field.

I'm pretty sure that my susceptibility to lung infections from CAR-T Cell Therapy will prevent me from going to any races anyways.  No drunks will see me and have the opportunity to cold cock me for daring to disagree.  Nobody is going to stop coming by and giving me a lift to the races and let me share their booth so I don't have to breath in dust.  They weren't doing that before I commented about Larson so there's nothing to stop.  I'm not a hater, he's the best there has ever been so far up to his mid 30's.  His Cup career will prevent the longevity in Sprints like Kinser so he won't break Steve's records.  I watch High Limit every chance I get and enjoyed last nights race.  
 

Outlaws are at Ogilvie tonight and my neighbors son Lucas Nellis 74n is running with UMSS winged.  If my life wasnt so restricted by the illness I'd be there.  Larson chooses not to race up here near the cities so I'll likely never see him live and in person.  Consequently I watch races and comment on what I watch.  I'm a little out of touch with the buzz among fans because I rarely see any other fans.  Just drop in next door and talk about the UMSS and local stuff.  You have the right to dislike me because I was turned off by so much focus on one driver who doesn't even make his living in Sprints.

You actually made a fair argument and some people did agree with you. Obviously, I did not but its not a big deal. Just a difference of opinions. I believe I saw Nellis run a race at Husets last year. He had some trouble and didn't do well. How's he doing closer to home?

Jan Opperman won 2 races in the same day in 2 different sprint cars at 2 different tracks in 1974.

No worries.  I was getting beat up pretty bad in a couple Facebook groups and had a chip on my shoulder when I dropped in here.   People these days don't want to discuss the pros and cons of a situation.  They come right out of the gate with the name calling and profanity and I get in over my head trying to defend myself from the onslaught.  I'm not going anywhere unless my number comes up and the lights go out.  I lashed out when I saw something that obviously referred to me.  People don't want a discussion, they want everyone on the internet to agree with them and if we don't they pile on. 

You don't think it would have been a clown show if Foyt and Rutherford did it in an era of social media and cameras at every corner?  Also, if you remember it happening that long ago, I'm sure the hype and chatter was very much there.

Exactly.  We've seen Foyt with a microphone in his face right after wrecks or car failures and it wasn't PC all the time.  Can you imagine that in today's world of social media everywhere?  Like everything else, racers have had to adapt to temper their emotions to speak with the media and clean it up.  Just a different world today and it has removed some of the colorful personalities from our sport (or at least muzzled them).

As a very young teenager I watched the late great Lynn Paxton win the labor classic at Port Royal and than head 35 miles east on route 35 to watch Mr. Paxton win at Selinsgrove that same night in the Boops Aluminum number 1!

About 35 years later at the memorial service of his former crew chief Ree Smith I got to sit with him and thank him for letting us kids join him in victory lane all those years ago for photos.  He will always be one of the greatest ambassadors for sprintcar racing for me he was the greatest!
