Have nothing invested????  Lets think about this for a second.

1.  THE FANS ARE THE ONES THAT PAY THE ENTRANCE FEE TO KEEP THE TRACKS OPERATING.

2.  THE FANS THAT ATTEND THE RACES GIVE THE SPONSORS REASONS TO SPONSOR RACES FOR FOR THE TRACK AND FUND THE POINT FUNDS FOR THE TRACK.

3.  THE FANS THAT ATTEND THE RACES GIVE THE SPONSORS REASONS TO SPONSOR XYZ RACECAR/DRIVER.

Nothing in racing works unless there are fans to support it.  There is about 1/2 of us that are pissed about the whole deal and rightly so.  It's our money (albet a small fraction) too.

In my opinion he did everything wrong because he in essence LIED to everybody about it and that's how I feel about the situation.  If you don't like my opinion tough shit....

Were there any fans left in the stands last night after tens of thousands of them stormed the ticket windows at Knoxville and demanded their money back due to getting "screwed" or "ripped off?" Has Knoxville already announced next year's Nationals have been cancelled due to a massive amount of fans vowing "Never again" after such a "rip off?"

I am kinda surprised the Nationals were able to be run at all last night, what with all the fans rioting over getting "ripped off."

I'm most pissed off at the stupid jackasses who dare to have the audicity to suggest that Rico donating his money to Kevin Swindell was "to save face". You obviously DON'T know Rico at all so why don't you shut the hell up!

Cheers!

Give it rest. You dont have shit invested in racing, especially compared to race teams. I hope I never have to encounter you at a race. I loathe being around ignorant whiners.

You don't care for what I say?  Too bad I guess.  All I can suggest is don't read it.

As for hoping to never encounter me at the races, I'm ok with that.  You want to disrespect somebody due to a difference of opinion?  You don't sound like the type of person with the morals I would want to really talk to anyways......

He and his team have a right to do what they want  if he wants to race and make it into the A main and step out for other obligations  there is not a problem with it ..... the rules don t say if you  run the qualifing night and make it you have to be here saterday for the A or any other of the mains  they did everything by the book so get over it ,,,,,,, seems  there are a few that just don t get it ........looks at the number of fans at the track the numbers on the cushion and dirt vision looks like the few that complained about it are way out numbered...

I haven't read most of the posts in this thread.  But my opinion is that there should be a rule against doing this in the future.  Most drivers look at this as a huge accomplishment to make the A main in Knoxville & wouldn't let anything get in their way of participating regardless of $ involved.

I have nothing against Rico, he's a hell of a driver.  But he could have put someone in the car to actually RACE it or let another team run.

As a fan, I want to see the cars that are qualified actually race.

NASCAR is officially the cancer of motorsports.  They have been working feverishly on it since 1987 and they have reached the peak.  The one thing about this year's nationals remotely different, unique and exciting was stolen by the lie called nascar.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Rico's a good guy and a good racer but if he already knew he wasn't going to be able to race, he essentially took away someone's opportunity to race the A main that really earned the chance with a good week. Imagine how the guys who just missed out on points feel right now, especially if that driver finshes 5th in the B tonight.

Bonehead, selfish move by Abreu in this situation and stupid of Knoxville to allow it going in.

Rico has talent, more talent than most.  However, he does not have the realization not everyone has a daddy who can finance sprint car racing.

If Rico knew before hand that he had no intentions on racing Saturdat night then why in the hell did he bother to race at all?

Hmm, maybe $12,000 if he won, plus another $9,500 to start the A.. would you tru something for $21,500? What a stupid question. He makes his living racing!

The  real shame is all you bashing him.  The young man goes to schools, does charity work etc letting people know they can overcome about anything.

He raced his way in and your advocating those who didn't get his shot?

Did you feel ripped off knowing going in Shatz was going to win?

just a tidbit bout the abreau family.  his family has put over a million dollars into the upgrades of the famous Calistoga Speedway, without the funds the track and the great racing may well have gone by the wayside.

so to the poster who says it is the fans money that keeps racing alive,  let's look at the other side of the coin...if you can that is.  for a young gun who has only been in a sprinter for four years or less, he earned his way into the nats.  some go their whole life and never make the nationals.

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

Maybe next year Tony Stewart can qualify a car for the Knoxville Nationals and put Jimmy Carr in it for Saturday.  He's certainly earned it.

Or maybe Donny will get tired of kicking everyones ass so he'll qualify the 15 and let Ricky Warner taker her for a spin.  He's probably earned it too.
Can't wait to see Larson qualify a car and put Dillon in it.  Oh wait they're both busy Saturday.  Maybe he'll let his mon drive it.  Shes earned it.

Rico earned his spot & donated $$$ to Swindell. Good for him.

Let another team take A Main spot? That would have been nice too, but there are choices in life, Rico made his, can't have it both ways

I thought they should give another driver a chance too, until I read that the car is specially designed for a little person
