After the family got puked on the 2nd time, the mom went nuts on the puker, she took off her puke covered jacket and smeared it all over his face, shirt and pants and then poured her water bottle on the black shirt guy.. all over his legs etc..The dad also was arguing with Billy bad ass and it did seem like the dad had people standing up for him...then the drunk told the dad..."turn the F around and watch the race, which the dad replied with..."that's what I'm trying to do" that pic of him with his hand on his head was at the end of that comment. All this happening while the A main happening, my boy next to me with his arm around me watching the race and the drunks...I never even paid attention to victory lane celebrations ...thought I was gonna get involuntarily involved in the melee and that made me nervous with my 9yr old with me. These 2 guys have to look familiar to someone...

This should definately not be tolerated at any racetrack. . . If someone would have puked on me, I probably would have been the one in jail. . . I'm not sure designated sections are the answer, but I would agree with the post signs about no tolerance of drunkeness, and announce it, then enforce it. This will weed out the people the who are just drunks and the ones who can handle it, without making anybody give up "their seats"

I have no problem with people who drink, I myself enjoy a few beers at the track and hit up Dingus after the races. . . .But, I go to the Knoxville Nationals for the best RACING of the year, not the best party of the year.

Actually, there is already a 'special section' for folks like this near most race tracks around the country. It's referred to in most places as the county jail.

I have no problem with people around me drinking as long as they can handle what they drink and not get obnoxious. Past that point, the track needs to get law enforcement involved and eject the offenders from the track. Drinking to the extent to throwing up on people shouldn't happen to anyone more than about once in their lifetime (probably at their first drinking party). Any more than that is just demonstrating a lack of intelligence. Family section(s) would be a good idea that would allow folk to totally (more or less) escape the behavior that can result. While we're at it, they need to improve the smoking area under the backstretch somehow. I'm a smoker, and the smoke coming up to row 22 from down below was strong even for me. Not sure what can really be done other than possibly extend the smoking area outside of the seating area.

Smoking should be prohibited on the ENTIRE fair grounds.

My experience with drunks is like tipping cows. Just give them a shove and they will fall over.

cannot agree with that. I smoke and I am all for it being prohibited in the grandstands. I mean, hell there's no room for anyone to escape - so even if it wasn't legal I wouldn't do it - just as a matter of not being a dick.

But there should be places set aside for smoking.

And as this thread is so brutally illustrating - the problem with drunk A holes just might be worse than smoking. But, like I said - whether it's legal or not to do it in the grandstand I don't care....I don't want to smoke and it bother anybody.

At some local tracks if the wind is blowing just right and we're up top we do it....but you can literally see that it's not bothering anyone (although one must be careful with the embers lol). Guess I'm just saying I don't like putting people out with my smoking any more than I have to. I have a lot of friends I go to races with and they don't smoke - so for the 2-3 hour ride I don't either. doesn't bother me at all (although I smoke as soon as I get out lol). Better than being inconsiderate. I think literally everyone of us could agree that we can't stand inconsiderate people. With that said - as a smoker - there have been a lot of fools from my lot that have given us a bad name unfortunately.

It's stuff like this that has convinced me to take my family to the 360 Nationals instead. I checked with the ticket office a couple of years ago and was told that there is a non-alcohol/family section for the weekly shows but not the 410 Nationals....Hopefully the track/Toby will address this issue next year as the damage has already been done. I'm just curious, how many empty seats were there Saturday night? I had counted over 7000 available seats Saturday morning on the website.......Could this be a sign that the good fans have had enough?????

I feel terrible for the family involved in this mess. I go to the Nationals to watch racing and to be entertained by the greatest drivers in the world. I do all my drinking/partying once the racing is over for the night. I head over to Dingus and later in turn 3 where I release the hounds for 4 or 5 hours. I do my partying at the appropriate time and place. Ive never drank in the stands or before the races begin. These inbred pukes that get all juiced up in the stands have no boundaries. They'll do whatever they want to whoever they want. They are inconsiderate alcoholics and cannot control themselves. They have to be drunk all the time because they think they're being cool. I agree that a section or two should be set aside as non- alcoholic.

Let me get this strait. You are in a bar (which is not a family place) and get unruly you are removed by a bouncer or a Police officer and probabley BANNED from returning. Why in HELL Knoxville lets them stay and keeps serving them is disgraceful. What we should do is bypass Knoxville and dial 911 and gets some Police Officers in there

I have four Chili Bowl Tickets on sale at: www.autodetailco.com

Agreed, Knoxville security should have taken care of this and booted those guys out or called the cops and had them arrested. I've seen people escorted by the police from racetracks for being drunk/disorderly in the past. Family sections are also a great idea but again it doesn't work if security doesn't enforce. Most of us can have a few beers at the races and not act like a-holes but there's always a few who ruin it for everyone.

The nationals brings in people that haven't seen another sprint car race all season, they are there to party.Every year without fail, you will have the partiers start rolling in to the stands after the racing has already started, causing everyone in their row to have to stand and let them through and miss racing action. Then you have to let them by 10 more times when they go back and forth to the beer stand and the restroom.I like a few brews at the track myself, but I think alot of the partiers could show more respect as many in the stands are diehard fans that live for this race every year.

There is no excuse to allow people to be so drunk they can't make rational decisions and be at the point of physical vomiting at a public event. If the track can't manage the consumption and effect of beer sales, they shouldn't sell it. The bottom line is what the race track management will allow.

My impression is the entire Knoxville community goes all out to welcome attendee's to the races. I am sure there are many concerned and responisble people involved in the planning. The event has to be a large benefit to the central Iowa area. Hopefully the racetrack and the community will consider this problem with a high priority next year and address it.

Fans pay a great deal in money and time to attend and enjoy the races, the fans involvement should be protected and appreciated.

I think you've hit the nail squarely on the head here. That's the primary reason I quit going to the 410 Nationals years ago. Yes, I miss be there in person, but it just wasn't worth all the hassle to me anymore as I got older.

Smoking is legal and until it is illegalized provisions should be made for those who smoke. It don't make people act like dumb asses unless they are already dumb asses and it don't bother the non-smokers if they are in the designated areas. I do not smoke so it would not be any skin off of my back either way.

Back in 2006 at the nats I was sitting in my seat and all of a sudden I felt a horrible burn on my arm The lady a row behind me was s&@! Faced and burned me with her cigarette. That left a scar. The other problem I noticed is that the seat is about 24". It should be posted for the huskier folks that if your ass is wider than that u need to buy a second ticket and not just shoe horn yourself into the ppl around u. I sat next to the chubby family and dear god the four of them needed 6 seats.
More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

Here here to the seat thing

Maybe when you get your tickets they should have that plexiglass thing like they have at airports to see if your carry-on bag is the correct size, if they question if your ass is too big for 1 seat they make you put it up to that, if its over the size you gotta buy 2 tickets. Smile same should go for people that come with there big armed seat chairs that don't come close to fitting in 1 spot.

When I go with the group I usually go with to Outlaw races theres 6-7 of us and we always buy an extra seat and split it between all of us, makes much more room and only ends up being a few extra bucks each, well worth it. The only thing is usually people still try to crunch us in cause they don't have enough room and see we're not as crowded but we just stay within the seats we bought and let them know that we bought an extra seat for us, not so they could have more room.

from the other thread; hoopefully I'm not pissing anyone off by posting this here, but it's not hard to find! Toby Kruse General Manager [email protected] I noticed there doesn't appear to be anyone directly in charge of security/grandstands that is listed on their website. to be clear, I'm no saint, I regularly drink a large # of beers at most sprint car races I attend, but I've never bothered those around me, quite the contrary. the last thing I want to do is piss someone off at a sprint car race, being sort of a niche that results in us being a close-knit, relatively small community. lastly, anyone using excessive foul language, obviously drunk, or vomiting anywhere near a racetrack besides a toilet should be escorted out IMMEDIATELY with no degree of compromise. "come back whenever you can behave like an adult" I don't think that's too much to ask!
