I have never heard or read about you, however I don't think you will make many friends with this type of post. I see on another post you are looking for a job in the racing world, you might want to rethink the things you say and post.

Winker Just Wants To Race

Author : Daniel Beard

Winsconsin based Sprintcar driver Kurt Winker just loves to race sprintcars.

Winker raced to prominence last year in Australia driving the Gough & Gilmour backed Genner

entry and was all set to go again this season when the Genner team had to withdraw their offer.

The Genner camp however put Kurt in touch with southwest Victorian car owner Geoff Clifford who

had run American drivers Bill Bailey and Mike Lauterborn in the previous two seasons.

Clifford's arsenal however only includes a 360ci engine and Winker knows that this will not cut the

mustard come the big races.

"I need to try and source a 372ci engine from somewhere!" pleaded Winker

"I am going to drive the car at Avalon tonight, but I am 100 pounds heavier than most cars, and I

have 100 horsepower less, so its going to be a struggle."

Winker is in no way begrudging Clifford, and together they are doing their utmost to try and find

someone who will offer them a powerplant for the upcoming races.

"We have rung a few people but are yet to get a hold of a motor."

"If we can find one, we would love to do the Kings Challenge and Classic with it!"

Winker was aware of the predicament prior to flying out, but there was no way this hard hitting

throttle stomper was going to stay home and do nothing.

"I just love to race!"

"I paid my own way out here, Im on nothing and as I say, we are going to do run Avalon tonight

with what we have got just so I can race a car."

Knowing of Kurt's plight, the Genner team have now offered Winker the ride in their car for the

$50,000 to win at Parramatta City Raceway in a fortnight's time.

"The Genners are great people. They invited me out for Louise's wedding and have put me in the

car for the Parts Plus $50,000."

So now all Winker needs is a motor to get him through the Classic, and if viable the Kings

Challenge.

You could almost say his desire to get some horsepower under his foot mirrors his desire to make a

name for himself back home.

"There are no tracks around Winsconsin, so I think I will have to relocate to either Ohio or

Pennsylvania if I can get a ride as they are both hotbeds of Sprintcar racing in the US."

His next comment then summed up exactly how he is feeling right now.

"I want it real bad! Ill do whatever I can to make it happen."

If anyone has an engine that they would be prepared to lease to Winker and the Clifford team for

the upcoming big races, please contact Kurt on 0438 595 806.

just the facts please. thats all i work with. thats reality, so please allow some free press without trying to put someone down. i've died for this sport. 3 times so far. the great emts at lowes and charter park saved my life. god was there too. my last crash in o7 was a doosy. my helmet came off early in the flip. i have a video on my myspace. cum and gain knowlege on me. i'm for real and can drive. my peers respect me. i'm one of those love hate guys. ala t-mac. terry and i have had talks about just that image. if your outspoken they hate ya. if your cookie cutter they hate ya. it's hard to please everyone, so i just do me and thats it. hope this clears sum of the ignorence up on who i am.

peace and love

THE AMERICAN WAY 10w will be back. i promise. my fans are ready for it and so am i. wink

Oh goodness.... I must have gotten lost. I thought this thread was about whether or not Schatz was good for sprint car racing. But apparently it's about winking at Schatz. Next time put "Are you a Schatz winker" in the title... then I wouldn't be so confused... wink

With the results of Florida speed week over, I have a question to ask true sprint car fans. Is the dominance of one team funded with big time NASCAR money good for the sport that we love?

To me it is not whether he is good for the sport. There have always been periods where there are dominant drivers and teams. In fact this is one thing that people often sight in rating Steve Kinser the greatest ever. His extended period of dominance. The real problem of this sport is the ever increasing influence of mechanical technology over the human aspect of the sport. Whether it is wings, tires, etc. when they become the dominant factor the racing suffers. Why do you think so many of us bitch about the state of Indy car racing over the past 30 years. For me I can still enjoy a good competitive winged show, but find that on a consistent basis non-wing sprints and midgets put on a more entertaining program. Lastly, I feel many of disputes and expressed opinions come from a group that quite frankly do not have a very broad background in sprint racing. i.e. they think it began with WoO. Sort like the "race fan" who watches NASCRAP on TV, but has never gone to his local short track. Aah marketing!!
